# Alchemy

*Three frosted vessels clear beside a viewing stone turning from shadow toward light*

In this transcript, Bashar uses alchemy chiefly to mean the transmutation of one's self-definition—of “the soul, of the spirit”—rather than merely changing a material substance. He presents the latter as inseparable from the former: a material aid cannot be positive, in this framing, until the person's idea of self has been purified.

## Material transformation and attitude

When discussing a reversal from a monoatomic state to a metallic matrix, Bashar calls the process natural rather than destructive. He then places it within his metaphysical account of matter: monatomics are “the first level of manifestation of consciousness into physical materiality,” so the attitude brought to the work is said to shape its manifestation.

The same answer extends that account from an individual's thought to a shared “consensus reality.” In Bashar's presentation, a group can provide the coherence that a single person may not yet trust themselves to provide, and the material responds to that geometrically magnified thought.

## Assistance is not agency

*An offered catalyst rests beside a vessel controlled by another hand*

Bashar distinguishes an aid to transformation from the agent of transformation. He says the white powder can make a state more conducive to chosen changes, but does not make those changes itself; it magnifies the choices made within that state.

## Practical implications

As an interpretive practice, this teaching directs attention away from assigning independent power to a substance and toward the choice, self-definition, and coherence that Bashar says it amplifies. It does not establish a health protocol or a basis for using any substance.

## Representative passages

It is assisting you to assist yourself, for that is what it does best. The monoatomics are designed specifically to allow you to be taken to a certain state where it is easier for you to make the transmutations you want to make. The white powder does not make the transmutation for you. It takes you to the state when it makes it easier for your choices to stick, but it will magnify whatever choices you make.— Bashar,

It's about the transmutation of the soul, of the spirit, of the idea of how you define yourself.— Bashar,
