# Council of Nine Codex

The Council of Nine Codex is a meditation and permission-slip tool Bashar offers for opening intuition, creativity, and a more conscious flow of information. It is a square composed of nine cells grouped into three categories — spirit, mind, and body — each holding three personal glyphs that represent the past, present, and future of that category. Bashar describes it as a mirror and key that triggers levels of the physical, subconscious, and unconscious self when played with — not as an empirical object with power of its own.

## What the codex is and where it comes from

The codex is introduced as part of "creative tapping" — the recognition that human beings are multidimensional, simultaneously occupying parallel realities, past and future lives, and other dimensional experiences, and that in this transformational age those experiences are bleeding through more consciously.

Bashar frames creative imagination as the deliberate tapping-into of other probable reality experiences that some portion of the total you is genuinely having somewhere, some when — not as fantasy.

Within that framing the codex is given as a structured focus for that tap. The image is a square composed of nine squares (three rows of three, or any configuration that pleases you). Three of the squares represent spirit, three represent mind, three represent body or physical reality. The spirit squares are often colored blue, the mind green, the body red. In each square you place a glyph, shape, picture, or idea — three for spirit, three for mind, three for body — "they can be symbols, they can be shapes, they can be pictures, they can be animals, they can be gems, they can be anything you want them to be." In each category the three glyphs represent the past, present, and future of that category.

## How it functions: key, mirror, trigger

Bashar is explicit that the codex is not an empirical object doing something to you. It is a reflection of your own consciousness in a certain state of being, and you cannot really use it wrongly except by insisting on a form you know is not representative for you.

When you play with it — drawing it, meditating on it, turning it in your mind — it functions as a key, a mirror, and a trigger:

When you play with it, when you consider it, when your intention is focused upon it in some way, shape, or form, you will find that it will be capable of mirroring and triggering certain levels within your physical consciousness, subconsciousness, and unconscious self to bring to bear more realizations, more creativity, more inspiration, more dream activity, many different kinds of synchronicities.

The consistent instruction is to trust your imagination and alter the template however works best, and to use it as a child would. Bashar urges you to enter the exercise with gratitude that assistance is already present — the "fait accompli" — which allows the flow to arrive along the path of least resistance and keeps the work in the present moment.

## Relationship to the Council of Nine and Council of Twelve

A separate questioner asks Bashar to define the Council of Nine and the Council of Twelve. He gives both specific and general definitions. Literally, there have been physical councils based on the vibration of nine and of twelve at various points in history, and equivalent gatherings exist in other dimensions.

Archetypally — which is the level at which the codex operates — these councils represent interfaces or portals within collective consciousness that connect you to different perspectives on your own reality:

Council of 9 has a lot to do with the idea of balances, seeing into the self, regulating the self, understanding one's own timing. Councils of 12 have a lot to do with integrational energies, alignment of the total self, higher selves, bigger selves, bigger pictures.

The codex is the applied form: a structured way to "keep your own counsel." In Bashar's framing these council energies are not external authorities — you are "primarily your own counsel of nine, your own counsel of twelve," and the codex is one ritual object that helps you convene that inner council through imagination.

## Practical implications

Build the codex in whatever medium suits you — drawn on paper, painted, held in imagination without physicalizing it — and let your imagination alter the template whenever it sees fit. Bashar strongly urges you to let it change, because your imagination is "specifically vibrational keyed and attuned to your specific chosen themes" in this life.

Choose glyphs that are personally meaningful rather than authoritative. Animals, gems, shapes, pictures, and symbols are all valid; what matters is that they represent, to you, three different aspects of each category across past, present, and future.

Use it as a child would — play with it, meditate on it, turn it over in your mind — and take action on what surfaces. Bashar's "key ingredient" is willingness to act on what the codex reflects; if you play along, "you will find that there are almost no rules at all, and the limits will drop."

Treat the codex as a permission slip, not a mechanism. It does not do anything to you; it is the form you give yourself permission to use to be more of yourself.

The codex is one ritual form for an inner council that is ultimately your own. Other symbolic tools — tarot, archetypal imagery, council visualizations — serve the same function of convening different aspects of your being into a single vision.

## Representative passages

Imagine, if you will, a square composed of nine squares… Three of the squares represent the idea of spirit, three of them represent the idea of mind, and three of them represent the idea of body or physical reality… In each case, the three will represent to some degree what you may believe or view or feel to be the notion of spirit, past, present, future, the notion of mind, past, present, future, the notion of physical reality, past, present, future. In creating this codex, it will literally function as a key, for when you then play with it, meditate on it… it will be capable of mirroring and triggering certain levels within your physical consciousness, subconsciousness, and unconscious self.— Bashar,

It isn't an empirical tool. It doesn't exist really outside you. You cannot really use it wrongly, except if you insist on using it in a form that you know is not necessarily the most representative form for you… if you use it in accordance to your own vibration and your own inspiration, it can open up great gateways and doorways of creativity and attract many more opportunities of synchronicity in your life than you may have previously imagined possible.— Bashar,

Council of 9 has a lot to do with the idea of balances… seeing into the self, regulating the self, understanding one's own timing. Councils of 12 have a lot to do with integrational energies, alignment of the total self, higher selves, bigger selves, bigger pictures… you are primarily your own counsel of nine, your own counsel of twelve.— Bashar,
