# Dreams

*A resting figure lies below a quiet arrangement of movable stones and an unchanged dawn path*

Dreams, in Bashar's teaching, are not idle noise. The dream state is where the physical mind shuts down enough to reconnect consciously to the greater self and recharge — a connection so essential that, without dreaming, you would go into psychotic shock, because the physical mind by itself is "literally a half-wit" and cannot exist on its own.

> — Are Dreams Necessary To Remember (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/are-dreams-necessary-to-remember)

What you remember of a dream is only the spooled-out symbolic story of an experience you actually had all at once in a timeless state; the whole dream exists right now, and every dream you will ever have already exists in the now.

## Why dreams are necessary to have (but not always to remember)

The first distinction Bashar draws is between having dreams and remembering them. Dreams are necessary to have, but not necessarily to remember: the unconscious connection to the higher self that dreaming provides is what maintains the balance of your total being, and that connection suffices even when no content surfaces to waking memory. Some dreams are worth remembering when they serve the theme you are exploring, but you do not have to remember them all.

This reframes the common anxiety about "not dreaming" — you are dreaming; what is optional is the waking recall.

## What the dream state is doing

The dream state does several distinct kinds of work at once, and Bashar explicitly frames it as "a combination of things" rather than a single function.

Processing and substitution. You may be processing ideas, belief systems, and experiences while you sleep — including working certain processes out in the dream state so that you do not have to experience their physical manifestation.

> — Dreaming What You Do Where You Go (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/dreaming-what-you-do-where-you-go)

A nightmare, on this view, can clear a block without your having to live it out physically.

Blueprint reconfiguration. You may be arranging dream-state experiences that reconfigure the template or blueprint of your physical reality, the architecture laid out between the higher mind and the physical mind.

Out-of-body conversation. You may actually be having conversations out of body with other beings on other levels and dimensions, conversations that translate through the body if it is still strongly connected to the vibration of your spirit — the body may "puppet or mimic" the experience your spirit is having.

> — Dreaming What You Do Where You Go (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/dreaming-what-you-do-where-you-go)

Cross-connections to parallel lives. When the dream or sleep-speech sounds like an unfamiliar language or several conversations at once, you may be making cross-connections to many dimensions of reality — parallel lives, past lives, future lives — extracting information from them and processing the relevant bits through yourself for this life.

## Dreams as symbolic telepathic contact

Many dreams of extraterrestrials are memories of actual contact, and the paralysis sometimes felt in such experiences is, in Bashar's framing, the disorientation of shifting dimensions without yet knowing how to move in that dimension — not a reason for fear.

> — E.t.Contact In Dreams Telepathic Connections (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/etcontact-in-dreams-telepathic-connections)

Disturbing dream imagery need not be literal: a graphic or frightening image can be a projected symbol, a telepathic connection depicted in pictures to deliver certain information, rather than an event actually occurring.

> — E.t.Contact In Dreams Telepathic Connections (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/etcontact-in-dreams-telepathic-connections)

The practical guidance for opening this kind of connection further is not a technique per se but a state: act on your highest excitement with no insistence on the outcome, and you become "the most receptive antenna" for further information when you are ready for it.

> — E.t.Contact In Dreams Telepathic Connections (qa-3), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/etcontact-in-dreams-telepathic-connections)

Because dream imagery is symbolic, a dream may hold a relevant message whose connection is not immediately evident. Bashar's direct instruction in one exchange is simply to "examine the dream more deeply" — you will find what you are looking for in it.

The imagination that replays the dream is itself a dimension of reality, not a dismissal of the experience; "this and that" — both the literal contact and the symbolic rendering — can be real at once.

## Lucidity and permission slips

The learner-facing lever in all of this is lucidity: waking up inside the dream, knowing you are dreaming, and so gaining the ability to rearrange the template-level blueprint that physical life re-inserts into.

> — Monologue Dream A Little Dream (text), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/monologue-dream-a-little-dream)

Bashar points to many permission slips for this, naming one concrete technology: the REM mask, a device worn during sleep that flashes light into the dream as a signal. Once you remember what the light means, you wake up inside the dream and become lucid, and you can then signal the mask to stop flashing so it does not interrupt you.

> — Lucidity And Dreams Rem Mask (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/lucidity-and-dreams-rem-mask)

The holotope meditation works the same way by another route: it uses symbols, tones, and color to seed a reminder, so that even a flicker of the holotope in a later dream can trigger the recognition that you are dreaming and wake you into lucidity.

## Practical implications

The transcripts support several concrete orientations for a learner working with dreams:

Treat remembering as optional, dreaming as essential. If you do not recall your dreams, you are still doing the necessary work; release the pressure to remember every dream and look instead for the ones that serve the theme you are exploring.

> — Are Dreams Necessary To Remember (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/are-dreams-necessary-to-remember)

Read every symbol as yourself. Because everything in a dream is a projection of your own consciousness, the most direct decoding is to treat each figure, object, and scenario as a facet of you, rather than as external evidence to be proven.

> — Monologue Dream A Little Dream (text), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/monologue-dream-a-little-dream)

Examine rather than dismiss. When a dream seems unrelated to your question, look more closely; relevance often appears only with deeper examination.

> — Examine Dream More Deeply For Meaning And Symbology (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/examine-dream-more-deeply-for-meaning-and-symbology)

Use permission slips for lucidity. Whether an REM mask or another technique, the mechanism is the same: a pre-arranged signal inside the dream that reminds you that you are dreaming.

> — Lucidity And Dreams Rem Mask (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/lucidity-and-dreams-rem-mask)

Let a frightening image be symbolic first. Before treating disturbing dream imagery as literal, consider it a projected symbol carrying information; the fear awoke in someone else (or in you) often reflects the definition given to the experience rather than the experience itself.

> — E.t.Contact In Dreams Telepathic Connections (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/etcontact-in-dreams-telepathic-connections)

> — Dreaming What You Do Where You Go (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/dreaming-what-you-do-where-you-go)

These orientations are inner practices for working with dream experience and are not a substitute for professional care for persistent sleep disturbance, anxiety, or psychological distress.

## Representative passages

No, they are only necessary to have. When you go into dream, because of your definitions of physical reality making it seem as if you're disconnected from the spirit self, you go into the dream state to shut down the physical mind so you can reconnect consciously to the idea of your greater self and recharge yourself. Without dreaming you would actually go into psychotic shock because you're relying totally on the physical mind, which cannot exist on its own.— Bashar,

You can be processing certain ideas, belief systems, and experiences while you sleep. You can be arranging to have certain experiences in your dream state and in your sleep that will either allow you to reconfigure the template or blueprint of your physical reality experience and or will be a substitute for the idea of your physical reality experience. … You may be working certain processes and experiences out in your dream state that thus then makes it so you don't have to experience the manifestation of those particular things in your physical reality.— Bashar,

Many of those dreams are memories of actual contact. Many people in those experiences experience what they call paralysis for a while. But that's just because you are shifting dimensions and don't understand how to move in that dimension yet.— Bashar,

One technology permission slip that has now been invented on your planet is what is called an R-E-M mask. You wear it while you are sleeping. It generates a flash of light in such a way as to remind you, because the light enters the dream and the light reminds you that you are dreaming.— Bashar,
