# Ego & Power

*A figure turns one visible water channel from a plain mask toward a planted basin beside an open path*

In Bashar's teaching, power is not something you acquire more of; it is something you are already using completely. The shape your life takes follows where you point that power, including when you point it at pretending you have less of it than you do. Greed, domination, and the desire for power over others are learned choices, not spiritual nature; and the balanced place — where conscious command arises — is the total acceptance of all of yourself, positive and negative alike.

## Greed and power-over are learned, not nature

When asked whether greed, the desire for power, domination, and war are part of human nature, Bashar is precise: it is in human learning, not human nature.

The abilities exist as possibilities within the structure of the physical reality you are experiencing, but in the sense of what you actually are as a spirit being, that direction is not automatic. It is still a choice based on learning.

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-3), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

This distinction matters because it locates the source of these patterns in definition and learned belief rather than in essence. Greed, domination, and war are expressions a being can take on while human; they are not intrinsic to the being. The same being, under different definitions, expresses differently.

## Why anyone would explore the dark at all

The follow-up question — then why would I choose a reality in which war and these things exist? — gets a transformation-based answer. You are looking to transform; in order to transform into light, you have to start with the dark, otherwise there is nothing to transform from or to. That is the nature of physical reality: to experience the concept of the transformation of polarity.

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

The power of transformation and transcendence is itself a valid experience, and you cannot switch on a light unless you start in the dark; you cannot remember who you really are unless you have first used the power to forget.

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

This is the framework within which ego-and-power questions sit. The exploration of negative expressions of power is not a fall from nature; it is one pole of a transformational curriculum that requires polarity in order to be experienced at all.

## You do not change the world; you change yourself

A questioner who wants to build something to challenge an unjust power structure is told: you will never change them, because you never change the world you are in. You change yourself and shift to another parallel earth that is already more representative of the change you have made within yourself. The old earth still exists with the unchanged people on it; you have shifted to a parallel earth where versions of people exist that are more amenable to the vibration you prefer.

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

Changing yourself is all you need to do, because then your actions become a sample and example for others, and you shift yourself to a reality where others are more in alignment with you, bit by bit, at whatever pace is coming for you.

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

This reframes the path of genuine power: it runs through self-change and example, not through the project of forcing the outer world to change.

## Powerlessness is power pointed at pretending

Bashar's wider teaching on power reframes the feeling of powerlessness itself. There is no such thing as powerlessness — you can only use your full power to pretend you are powerless.

You are always using your entire power; it is impossible to be a fraction, because you are one. The fear around power, on this reading, is not the fear of using it but the fear of admitting you are already using it.

The balanced place — where conscious command arises — is the total acceptance of all of yourself, positive and negative alike; only by accepting the pain do you cease to experience it as pain, since resistance and fear are what make it hurt. The ego that perceives through a fixed, lesser-self identity will always struggle to relate to a "greater self" outside itself, reinforcing the very separation it tries to bridge.

## Practical implications

Locate greed and domination in learning, not essence. When you notice these patterns in yourself or your society, treat them as learned choices rather than as inevitable nature. The work is to update the definitions that produce them, not to make peace with them as "just how humans are".

> — Greed And Power Over Others Are Learned Expressions (qa-3), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/greed-and-power-over-others-are-learned-expressions)

Prefer self-change and example over force. Bashar's framing is that the genuine path of power runs through changing yourself and shifting to a matching reality; your actions become the example others can pick up on.

Notice where you are using your power to pretend you have less. The feeling of powerlessness is itself a use of full power. Acknowledging that is the first step out of the pretense; resistance and fear are what make the pain hurt.

Accept the negative as well as the positive. Conscious command arises from the total acceptance of all of yourself. An ego fixed on a lesser-self identity keeps struggling to bridge a separation of its own making.

Preserve the boundaries. Nothing in this framing is a directive to remain in an abusive situation, to "accept" harm in the colloquial sense, or to refuse protection or support. Bashar's teaching on acceptance is about the inner stance toward what you are experiencing; the standing medical, legal, and financial boundaries apply.

## Representative passages

No, it is in human learning, not human nature. […] It isn't in your nature automatically to go in that direction. It's still a choice based on learning.— Bashar,

Because you are looking to transform. And therefore, in order to transform into light, you have to start with the dark. Otherwise, there's nothing to transform from or two. That's the nature of physical reality is to experience the concept of the transformation of polarity in that way.— Bashar,

You will never change them because the idea is that you never change the world you're in. You change yourself and you shift to another parallel earth that's already more representative of the change you've made within yourself.— Bashar,

Changing yourself is all you need to do. Because then your actions will be a sample and example for others, and you will shift yourself to a reality where others are more in alignment with you, bit by bit by bit, at whatever pace is coming for you.— Bashar,
