# Emotion

*A hidden pattern, colored current, and branching reflections move in sequence*

In Bashar's teaching, emotion is not a primary cause and not something to be eradicated; it is a messenger — literally "energy in motion" — that sits in a precise sequence: belief first, then emotion, then thought. Because emotion is downstream of belief, every feeling traces to a definition you already hold, and the work with emotion is therefore the work of identifying and changing the belief that generates it. The teaching also draws a sharp line between true emotion and the "synthetic" emotions (guilt, frustration) that you lay on top of it — a layering other civilizations reportedly name by calling you "the shell people."

## The prism: belief, emotion, thought

Two sessions — The Same Road and Release Of Emotions And Evolution Of Consciousness — give the same core model. Each personality is described as a prism that takes the homogeneous energy of consciousness and breaks it down into the spectrum of physical experience. The prism has three aspects: belief, emotion, and thought pattern. "Belief is like the blueprint of your reality. Emotion is the activator, the builder of the blueprint. Thought pattern is the style in which the blueprint is manifested. Emotion being the builder, being the activation principle, carries most of the energy — emotions are literally energy in motion."

> — Release of Emotions and Evolution of Consciousness (Japan) (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/release-of-emotions-and-evolution-of-consciousness-japan)

Because emotion is the activation principle, "true emotion is one of the strongest ways to rearrange the persona that you are. By clear use and clear direction of your emotion, you can transform the blueprint, the belief, and the thought patterns of your life into what you desire them to be." The personality is explicitly called a temporary construct: "you can rearrange it in any form you wish at any time."

## Belief always comes first

The sequence is enforced across the material. Permission Slips gives the practical query: "When you feel bad, it is because you believe that your relationship to that circumstance is defined in a negative way. Redefine your relationship to the circumstance, and you will not feel bad." The instruction: "Acknowledge the feeling, then ask: what would I have to believe is true about my relationship to this situation in order for me to have this feeling? Identify the belief, and when you find out why you had it, you can let that go and change it for something you prefer — and the new belief will generate a feeling you prefer, thoughts you prefer, and behavior you prefer." All emotions, without exception, exist because a belief exists first.

Physical To Dream Reality states the same order as a rule: "belief always comes before emotion, and emotion always comes before thought. Emotion is a reaction to a belief you already have."

## Emotion as messenger — the "shell people" warning

The Self Created Journey session names the cost of refusing emotion. Other civilizations, Bashar says, allow themselves to view emotions as messengers bringing them gifts, and so they move through them very quickly. "The idea of 'shell people' comes from this: when you do not allow yourself to relate directly to your emotion — anger, fear — you create a synthetic emotion to relate to it: guilt, frustration, not real emotions. Then you create another shell of analysis to analyze your guilt, removing yourself farther and farther away from your initial emotionality, away from your spontaneous creative source." The remedy follows the diagnosis: "Emotions are messengers bringing you gifts; when you allow them to do their job they lose their ability to cause friction."

> — Self Created Journey (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/self-created-journey)

Creators3 applies the same frame specifically to fear: "When you create fear, instead of allowing yourself simply to recognize that that fear is a messenger, bringing you a portion of yourself that you can integrate as a gift, you create frustration and guilt in having the fear. In dealing with the artificial emotion, you never really deal with the fear." The teaching is to treat fear as information to integrate rather than something to cover with guilt.

The same session generalizes the rule to all difficult emotions: when you understand that your emotions are messengers bringing you "the gift of another portion of yourself that you may have been unwilling to view," you can accept that gift, integrate it, and let the emotion run off and bring you another portion — "Each time it comes back, you will not fear it so much. It will become your friend."

## Venting is not yet healing

*Color leaves an open vessel while its dark foundation remains unchanged*

A load-bearing distinction comes in Preparer Of The Way. Asked whether emotional outbursts — a cup running over — constitute true healing, Bashar answers that you have to go further: "you have to get to the source of the definition implanted within your belief system matrix that allowed you to interpret the circumstance in that emotional way, because emotions are secondary responses to something you already believe to be true." The outburst can help as an indicator of where to look, "but in and of itself it is not sufficient for healing, only the indicator to put you in touch with the true core issue." The work the emotion points to is replacing the old definition with a new one, "which will then automatically generate a new emotional response."

> — Preparer Of The Way (qa-7), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/preparer-of-the-way)

This is the nuance that prevents the messenger model from becoming a venting license: the feeling is a true and honored messenger, but its completion is the belief-change it points to, not the discharge itself.

## You are the feeling

A complementary claim, from Shattering Old Patterns, is that the feeling itself is the self — not a signpost to something more real elsewhere. After the questioner acts out an abundant persona and feels terrific, Bashar says: "You are that feeling. That's who you are. The feeling itself, the vibration itself, that's who you are… It is the feelings you feel that are you… It is the beingness. It is your soul." The teaching refuses the search for a self beyond the feeling that is right there with you: "The only reason that situations in your life would be unavailable is because you are not available to yourself."

## Fear, doubt, guilt, and the opposite of love

The Same Road sharpens the picture around fear, doubt, and guilt. The biggest fear observed in your collective society "is the idea that you are not worthy of what you dream you want. Self-denial is the biggest fear we perceive in your civilization." The session also overturns a common assumption about love's opposite: "Many individuals have been taught to believe that hate is the opposite of love. It is a negative polarity expression, but it is not the true opposite of love. The true opposite of love is guilt — the type of guilt where you deny the validity of your own beingness, no matter how small a denial." Even a very small amount of such denial, it says, "is enough to kill the entire persona."

> — The Same Road (qa-12), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/the-same-road)

The same session reframes doubt. From Bashar's perspective you are trusting 100% of the time; what you call doubt is not a lack of trust but "an absolute, infinite, 100% trust in a negative reality." The remedy is not to generate trust you lack; it is to "take the very same trust you have been placing in the negative reality and redirect it to the positive reality."

## Practical implications

Use the feeling as a probe, not a verdict. When a feeling arises, acknowledge it, then ask what you would have to believe about your relationship to the situation in order to feel this way. The belief you find is the lever; the feeling is the indicator that points to it.

Relate to the true emotion, not the shell. The teaching distinguishes primary emotions (anger, fear) from synthetic ones (guilt, frustration) layered on top, and from the analysis layered on top of those. Each shell takes you one step further from the original feeling and your creative source.

Don't stop at venting. Discharge can be a useful indicator, but it is not by itself healing; healing is framed as replacing the underlying definition, which then generates a new emotional response automatically.

Treat fear as a portion of self arriving. Fear integrated becomes a friend that loses its ability to cause friction; fear buried under guilt is never actually met.

Notice self-denial and guilt. The deepest fear is named as unworthiness of what you want, and the true opposite of love is named as guilt — the denial of your own validity. Even a small denial is treated as corrosive.

Redirect trust rather than trying to manufacture it. Doubt is reframed as 100% trust placed in a negative reality; the same quantity of trust can be moved.

Respect ordinary clinical boundaries. Nothing here is medical or psychotherapeutic direction; where persistent or severe emotional distress is present, ordinary clinical support remains its own domain alongside any definitional work.

## Representative passages

Belief is like the blueprint of your reality. Emotion is the activator, the builder of the blueprint. Thought pattern is the style in which the blueprint is manifested. Emotion being the builder, being the activation principle, carries most of the energy — emotions are literally energy in motion.— Bashar,

All emotions, without exception, all feelings only exist because there is a belief that exists first.— Bashar,

When you do not allow yourself to relate directly to your emotion — anger, fear — you create a synthetic emotion to relate to it: guilt, frustration, not real emotions. Then you create another shell of analysis to analyze your guilt, removing yourself farther and farther away from your initial emotionality, away from your spontaneous creative source.— Bashar,

Emotions are secondary responses to something you already believe to be true. While the emotional outburst can be helpful in the healing process as an indicator of where you need to look, in and of itself it is not sufficient for healing, only the indicator to put you in touch with the true core issue.— Bashar,

You are that feeling. That's who you are. The feeling itself, the vibration itself, that's who you are… It is the beingness. It is your soul.— Bashar,

The true opposite of love is guilt — the type of guilt where you deny the validity of your own beingness, no matter how small a denial.— Bashar,

What you call doubt is not a lack of trust at all… it is an absolute, infinite, 100% trust in a negative reality… you can take the very same trust you have been placing in the negative reality and redirect it to the positive reality.— Bashar,
