# Emotions

Emotions, in Bashar's teaching, are not autonomous forces that happen to you. They are energy in motion — the activator that renders a belief into lived experience — and a readout that points back to the belief that produced them. This gives feeling a precise functional place in the chain that creates reality: belief first, then emotion, then thought. Rather than suppressing emotion or treating it as an oracle, the material points toward feeling it completely, reading it as a clue to the belief beneath it, and choosing the definition you prefer to feed.

## Where emotion sits in the chain of creation

Bashar places belief, emotion, and thought on a gradient of "vibratory solidity." Belief is the most directly creative, emotion follows it, and thought is the least directly creative of the three — which means that your feelings reveal your beliefs far more reliably than your analytical thoughts do, because a world trained in analytical thought has learned to argue its way past what it actually believes.

Because emotion is closer to belief, the strongest feeling you carry can be followed like a thread back through the prism of your experience to the belief that organizes it; trying to make the same journey through thought alone adds "more obstacles, more props" and makes the search harder than it needs to be.

Emotion is also the engine of manifestation. The teaching parses the word as "e-motion" — motion, the driving activator that takes the blueprint of a belief and renders it into the manifestation of your thoughts and patterns. This is why strong excitement manifests quickly and why strong fear manifests quickly: the stronger the emotion behind a definition, the more realization flows into it. Fear with the joy removed produces the negative beliefs; joy placed behind the same possibility produces the positive ones.

The practical consequence is that you can entertain many possibilities in thought without manifesting any of them, but once you put emotion behind one, you commit the act of creation.

## Emotion as a reaction to a belief held now

A recurring clarification across the sessions is that emotion is a response, not a source. "Emotions are reactions to something you believe to be true."

> — Body And Soul (qa-6), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/body-and-soul)

The same point is made in answer to someone who notices he called a situation negative only once it stopped feeling good: "Your emotions are the result of what you already believe to be true," not the evidence that the situation itself is negative.

> — Habits (text), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

This is why the feeling that the past is reaching into the present is always a present definition wearing a costume — a feeling is a present-tense reaction to a belief held now, even when its content looks historical.

Because emotions are reactions, they have no independent power. To a questioner who feared her emotions were out of control, Bashar's reply was that "they don't have a mind of their own," and that the sense of autonomous emotion is produced by a definition that makes the strings invisible: you are "utterly controlling" the emotion on your strings while choosing to believe the strings are someone else's.

> — Body And Soul (qa-6), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/body-and-soul)

Naming that hidden choice is the first move toward taking the strings back.

## No intrinsically negative emotion — judgment creates the polarity

The sessions draw a sharp line between feeling an emotion and routing it through judgment. "There is no such thing as an intrinsically negative emotion. Judgment creates the polarity that you experience as a seemingly negative emotion."

> — Habits (qa-6), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

Read alongside the chain of creation, this means the felt "negativity" is not in the emotion itself but in the screen of judgment the emotion is being projected onto. Fear, in the same frame, is inherently positive and aligning: it gathers everything you know about yourself into one clear sight and creates the pressure in which you must act. What looks like fear's destructive cycle — rage, depression, repetition — does not come from the fear but from viewing the fear through "the artificial screen of judgment and guilt and analysis."

> — Addiction Is A Judgment (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/addiction-is-a-judgment)

This reframes the whole project of working with emotion. Emotions do not hang you up; judgments hang you up.

> — Habits (qa-6), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

Refusing to act on the emotion is what creates the reactive self and the repeating cycle, while acting on the emotion dissolves the cycle: "Every time you allow yourself to respond to the emotion with an act, then you will always find yourself... more aligned with all... you know yourself to be," and the reactive self "in a sense does not exist."

## Emotion versus intuition, and the single root of love

The teaching distinguishes emotion from intuition while keeping them related. Intuition is the knowing itself; emotion is "intuition expressed through the personality," the recognition of the intuition in action — a barometer by which you can feel the degree to which you are acknowledging what you already know.

> — Habits (qa-5), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

Someone who trusts instinct with conscious awareness may find less need for a wide emotional range, because the function emotion serves (reminding you of what you know) is already being met directly.

At the root, the sessions collapse the whole apparent range of feeling into one substance. "All emotions are derivations of love. Love is the only emotion there is, really. Everything else is either a judgment of that or some sort of differentiation of that."

> — Habits (qa-7), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

Within that single field, hate is not treated as love's opposite; guilt is. Love is complete worthiness, guilt is the belief in worthiness's absence, and hate is a polarized attachment that has passed through the filter of guilt — so it still believes itself worthy of something, whereas guilt does not.

> — Habits (qa-7), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/habits)

## Choosing the positive from a neutral place

Because circumstances are neutral and another person's intention does not determine your response, neutrality is presented as the vantage point from which feeling becomes a choice. "You have the ability to be neutral in that sense, but you also, thus then, from the neutral place, have the ability to choose the positive."

> — Choosing To Understand And Express Only Positive Energy (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/choosing-to-understand-and-express-only-positive-energy)

The same exchange separates noticing an intention from inheriting it: you can recognize someone's intention to attack "without you having to feel attacked. These are two different things, two different energy states."

> — Choosing To Understand And Express Only Positive Energy (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/choosing-to-understand-and-express-only-positive-energy)

Feeling, in this framing, is something you do in response to a definition you hold, not something imposed by the event.

## Practical implications

Treat a strong feeling as a clue, not a verdict. Because emotion sits closer to belief than thought does, follow the feeling back to the belief it reveals rather than analyzing the situation from the outside.

> — Beliefs Then Emotions Then Thoughts (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/beliefs-then-emotions-then-thoughts)

> — Getting In Touch With Beliefs (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/getting-in-touch-with-beliefs)

The feeling tells you what you actually believe; the work happens at the belief, not at the feeling.

Feel emotion completely before interpreting it. The destructive cycle is attributed to routing emotion through judgment and guilt, not to the emotion itself. Letting an emotion be felt for its own sake — fear included — is what aligns you with what you know; judgment is what produces the repeating spiral.

> — Addiction Is A Judgment (qa-4), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/addiction-is-a-judgment)

Act on the emotion rather than refusing it. Refusing the action an emotion indicates is what creates the reactive self and pockets of hidden consciousness; acting on it dissolves the cycle and the separation.

> — Addiction Is A Judgment (qa-5), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/addiction-is-a-judgment)

Use neutrality as the platform for choice. Recognizing both poles neutrally is what lets you choose the positive without denying the negative; another person's intention need not become your felt experience.

> — Choosing To Understand And Express Only Positive Energy (qa-1), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/choosing-to-understand-and-express-only-positive-energy)

> — Choosing To Understand And Express Only Positive Energy (qa-2), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/choosing-to-understand-and-express-only-positive-energy)

Notice where you invest emotion, because that is what you manifest. Emotion is the activator: whichever definition you put feeling behind is the one that realizes. Choosing positive definitions is ineffective without placing the felt investment behind them.

> — Tools of Change: 1, 3, 5, 7 (text), [Source](https://sassani.app/source-transmissions/tools-of-change-1-3-5-7)

These are framing tools, not medical or psychiatric directives. Nothing here overrides qualified care for overwhelming feeling, crisis, or condition-driven emotional experience.

## Representative passages

Your emotions are usually more indicative of what your beliefs are than your thoughts are many times. That is why now, because you have been a world that has existed in analytical thought for so very long, we simply suggest that you pay more attention to your emotions. In actual fact, we are suggesting that you pay more attention to your beliefs.— Bashar,

Emotions are reactions to something you believe to be true. ... They don't have independent power. You are utterly controlling. You are them on your strings, utterly. But you have created a definition that allows the strings to be invisible to you.— Bashar,

There is no such thing, once again, an intrinsically negative emotion. Judgment creates the polarity that you experience as a seemingly negative emotion. The emotions themselves do not hang you up. They are simply put, once again, E-motion, energy in motion.— Bashar,

Every emotion, what you call emotion, will always be in itself positive. ... It is when you allow the idea of fear to be viewed for your artificial screen of judgment and get analyzed, that you create for yourself the negative effect that is the repetition of a cycle.— Bashar,

All emotions are derivations of love. Love is the only emotion there is, really. Everything else is either a judgment of that or some sort of differentiation of that. ... Hate is not the opposite of love. Guilt is. For love is complete worthiness, and guilt is the belief that it is worthlessness.— Bashar,
