Physical geography, in this teaching, is the visible surface of an electromagnetic field: mountains, canyons, and crossings are where the field bunches and peaks, amplifying whatever consciousness is brought to them. These nodes are presented as real players in the planet's transformation and in the open-contact agenda, not as metaphor. ## What a vortex is A vortex, in Bashar's definition, is a dimensional gateway — a hub where many realities intersect. "That is what a vortex is — a dimensional gateway that connects to many other realities... a hub and connection point to many different dimensions — the middle of a crossroads of many different dimensional experiences. You were in all of them at once." When a person's perception expands beyond the physical, walking into a vortex is like walking into a party where beings from many dimensions are present at once; the veils have thinned, and the perceiver meets whoever is at the crossroads. ## Electromagnetic geography Bashar grounds the vortex idea in what he calls "electromagnetic geography." The image is a flat grid of lines that distorts and bunches where the ground rises or sinks; the bunching is a concentration of energy. A mountain top is "literally a concentrated apex of electromagnetic energy," which is why meditating there gives clearer reception and transmission — it is like standing directly in the path of a carrier wave that amplifies the electromagnetic pulses representative of your physical form. The same passage extends the idea to gravity: gravity is "the attraction of like vibrations to like vibrations" based on distortions in the electromagnetic field, rather than an intrinsic property of matter.
