# Equality

In Bashar's teaching, equality is not a demand made against another but an already-true description of consciousness: every being is the same consciousness viewing itself from a different vantage point, so no perspective is intrinsically lesser or greater than another. From that premise, unity is framed as the result of granting validity to diversity — not as enforced sameness — and relationships, governments, and even open contact with other civilizations are described as depending on people first becoming equal unto themselves.

## Equality as an already-true fact of consciousness

The most direct statement is ontological: "All consciousness is equal."

When a questioner asks why an "upline" civilization would learn from a "downline" human perspective, Bashar refuses the hierarchy outright: "It's not like you are in that sense any less than us. It's not like we are in that sense any better than you. We may know different things. You may know different things. And thus then your perspective is still precious."

Difference, on this view, is precisely what makes another perspective valuable rather than lesser.

## Self-equality precedes relationship equality

When a questioner asks how to understand equality in a relationship without demanding it from the other person, Bashar relocates equality inside the person. "Equality simply is. When you allow yourself to blend the male and female energy within each and every one of you, you yourself will become equal unto yourself and therefore able to attract all other individuals who are also equal unto themselves so that they can be equal to you and you equal to them."

The same principle surfaces in the context of spirit guides: the work is "to understand yourself and be equal to that idea," not to relate to the guide as a superior.

## Teachers, founders, and the projection of greatness

A recurring move is to dissolve the specialness of revered teachers. Asked why he asks people to find answers themselves when teachers have shown paths, Bashar says none of those teachers "showed you a path other than a general idea that you also have the same ability to be like those individuals."

The teaching attributed to Yeshua (Jesus) is framed in the same terms: "He wasn't looking for followers… He was saying that you are all equal to him. That in that sense, you are all Christ's. You are all children of God. And the phrase, I am the way simply means be the way I am."

Specialness, in this framing, is a projection outward that maintains distance: "Your ideas of advancement are really only ideas of maintaining the idea of distance between us, separation between us, and as long as the idea exists, you will always consider yourselves to be the student and not the teacher."

## Unity through the granting of equality to diversity

Equality is not collapse into sameness. Bashar explicitly distinguishes the two when speaking of planetary unity: "Any unity you are ever going to have upon your planet is going to be the result of the granting of equality and validity to the diversity in your cultures. Rather than bickering about who is more right, who is more wrong."

The same session applies this to government — "you are your government" — and frames political engagement as the art of inventing arrangements that are "fair to everyone," without taking sides or attacking the other.

## Equality as the precondition for open contact

Bashar repeatedly states that open face-to-face contact with other civilizations waits on self-equality, not on their readiness. In one session he says plainly that humanity will not be met "until you consider yourselves to be equal to yourselves, within yourselves, and to every other idea in the universe… We do not wish to meet you when you consider yourself to be less or greater."

Another session frames the same condition through the Essassani view: "The ability to come face to face with you will be dependent upon the level of energy that you are expressing toward the idea of being equal to other civilizations and not considering yourselves less, and not considering ourselves to be your teachers. Every being is their own teacher."

The futuristic vision is consequent: when humanity does meet its neighbors, "everyone is equally abundant, so that there is no impoverishment, no dis-ease."

## Practical implications

Notice where equality is being sought from the outside versus recognized from the inside. On Bashar's account, equality "simply is" and is realized by becoming equal unto yourself first; relationships then reorganize around that.

When admiring a teacher, founder, or civilization, treat the admiration as a reflection of capacity you already carry rather than evidence of distance. "Be the way I am" reads as an invitation to equal participation, not devotion.

Treat cultural, individual, or "upline/downline" differences as the source of a perspective's value, not as a hierarchy. Equality of worth and difference of content coexist.

In collective life — government, partnership, any shared endeavor — aim for arrangements that grant validity to diverse positions rather than for sameness or for one side winning. Unity is the consequence of granted equality to diversity.

None of this is a directive to remain in unsafe or abusive situations; the teaching addresses the metaphysical premise of equal worth, not legal, medical, or safety decisions, which still require ordinary discernment and protection.
