# Fear

Bashar treats fear not as the opposite of love or as proof of real danger, but as a mechanical signal: the one energy of unconditional love, filtered through a definition that is out of alignment with your true self. The whole framework for working with fear follows from that single premise. You have only one energy; it is fundamentally the energy of unconditional love. When you flow it through a belief system that contradicts who you really are, you experience the energy as the sensation you call fear. Change the definition and the same energy is experienced as passion and excitement.

This means fear is not something to be eliminated or fought. It is a friend bringing you information. When you treat it that way, it dissolves back into the love it always was.

## Fear is excitement filtered through a misaligned belief

The most precise definition Bashar gives is in the Using Fear To Help Clarify And Transform Distorted Beliefs exchange. Asked why a person stops acting on what they say is their excitement, he answers: fear. And then he reframes the relationship entirely.

Fear is a vibration that is not compatible with your highest excitement, although it is a variant of it. Because fear is your excitement energy filtered through a belief system that's out of alignment with your true self. That is what fear is. So fear lets you know you have an out-of-alignment belief system that you're funneling your energy through.

This single move — fear as a variant of excitement rather than its opposite — is the core of his teaching. Fear surfaces the hidden belief so the energy can be transformed and returned to excitement. You are not afraid of having fear; you use it.

From the same session: when you find yourself avoiding the thing you say you love to do, the question is not "why am I broken?" but "how am I defining this exciting thing in a way that makes me want to stop doing it?" The fear is showing you the definition.

## The strongest fear is the strongest joy waiting to be redefined

The Fourth Density Balancing Act session sharpens this into a working instruction. Asked which fear to work on first, Bashar says: the strongest one. Your strongest fear is representative of where most of your energy is, and it is the thing that can be most readily converted into your strongest joy if you are willing to redefine it. The reason this works is mechanical — only the definitions allow you to experience your energy as fear. Change those definitions and you experience the same energy as joy. So wherever the biggest collection of fear lives is where the biggest repository of energy lives, ready to become joy once the definition is cleared.

This is why Bashar says the path is not to avoid fear but to walk straight into it. The fear is the energy; the definition is the only problem.

## The method: magnify the fear to expose the belief

Both sessions prescribe the same method. Do not suppress the fear; amplify it. Ask yourself what is the most horrifying, terrifying thing you can imagine happening if you act on the thing that excites you, or if you fully love yourself, or if you follow through. Magnify the fear until it becomes so big that the underlying belief is self-evident.

Once the belief is identified, the work is almost done. You will see that it has nothing to do with you — it is something you picked up along the way, often from someone else. Bashar's phrase is "belief thief." You are walking around carrying beliefs that do not belong to you, beliefs that tire you out and wear you down because they are not compatible with your core vibration. Drop them. They are not yours.

A telling example from the same exchange: when asked why someone would not fully love themselves, the imagined fear is "if I fully loved myself, I would be this incredible being and I would lose all my friends because they couldn't relate to me anymore." Bashar is blunt — this sounds crazy, but beliefs like that exist on your planet. They sound nonsensical once they are exposed. That is the point of magnifying: the belief becomes too big to miss and too illogical to keep.

## Fear, unworthiness, and arguing with creation

The sessions pull fear inward to a single root. To say you alone are unworthy of unconditional love is, in Bashar's framing, not humility — it is hubris and arrogance. You are saying that out of all of creation that is worthy, you alone stand outside and above and beyond every being who allows themselves to be fully loved. You are treating yourself as uniquely special in your unworthiness.

This is why the fear teaching cannot be separated from the rest of the framework. Fear is what you feel when you are arguing with creation about whether you should be here, whether you should act on your excitement, whether you should be who you are. The remedy is not to defeat the fear; it is to drop the borrowed belief that produces it.

## Anxiety, excitement, and the same energy

A related distinction Bashar makes in the same session: anxiety and excitement are the same energy. Anxiety is excitement you are judging. If you call it excitement and let it be fun, then it will be. So the route through what feels like anxiety is not to fight it but to ask what it is doing for you — what doubt it is bringing to your attention so you can prefer something else.

## Practical implications

Reframe fear as a variant of excitement, not its opposite. The energy in fear is your excitement trying to reach you through a misaligned belief. Treating fear as the enemy keeps the belief hidden; treating it as a friend surfaces the belief so it can be cleared.

Amplify the fear to expose the belief. Ask what is the worst thing you imagine happening if you act on your excitement, fully love yourself, or follow through. Magnify it until the hidden belief — often absurd once seen — becomes undeniable.

Start with the biggest fear. It marks the largest repository of bound energy. Clear its definition and that energy converts most readily into your strongest joy.

Return borrowed beliefs. When you find a fear-producing belief, ask whether it is actually yours or whether you picked it up from parents, friends, or society. If it is not yours, drop it — carrying it makes you what Bashar calls a belief thief.

Distinguish fear from real danger. Bashar's framework addresses the inward sensation of fear as filtered excitement. It does not say there is no such thing as real danger, and it does not replace medical, legal, or financial care. A threat to physical safety is still a threat; the teaching is about the inward response, the definition placed on a situation, and the way that definition shapes experience.

Question the self-worth beliefs underneath. Many fears collapse back to a belief that you are uniquely unworthy. Recognize that treating yourself as the one being in creation who does not deserve love is not humility; it is arrogance wearing the costume of humility.

## Representative passages

Fear is a vibration that is not compatible with your highest excitement, although it is a variant of it. Because fear is your excitement energy filtered through a belief system that's out of alignment with your true self. That is what fear is. So fear lets you know you have an out-of-alignment belief system that you're funneling your energy through. Thus it brings it to your attention so you can work with it, deal with it, transform it, let it go, and add that energy to your overall excitement.— Bashar, Using Fear To Help Clarify And Transform Distorted Beliefs (using-fear-to-help-clarify-and-transform-distorted-beliefs#qa-2)

You only have one energy. Fundamentally, that energy is unconditional love. But if you flow that energy through belief systems that are out of alignment with your true core self, you'll experience that energy as the sensation you call fear. As soon as you make fear your friend, it will dissolve into unconditional love, passion, and excitement.— Bashar, Four Laws Of Creation (four-laws-of-creation#qa-17)

You have stolen someone else's belief. You're a belief thief. Drop it. It doesn't belong to you. Let it go. It's not yours. But you have to identify what it is before you can do that, because you can't work with what you don't know.— Bashar, Letting Go Of Fear And Embracing Self love (letting-go-of-fear-and-embracing-self-love#qa-1)
