# Food & Sustenance

*A modest shared table holds fruit, water, and several distinct place settings beside a garden*

Food, in Bashar's teaching, is one form of an energy exchange that creation uses to sustain and express itself. Whether the exchange is spiritual has nothing to do with the act itself — it depends on how it is done, on the relationship of gratitude and appreciation brought to it, and on whether the sustenance matches the body you are actually in. There is no fixed rule for what any body needs: your body's chemistry reflects your energy state, which reflects your belief system and the consensus reality you have agreed to. The trajectory of evolution leads toward lighter and lighter sustenance, until — as Bashar's own civilization shows — sustenance is taken directly from energy itself.

## Life eating life is an exchange, not a sin

The most direct framing Bashar offers is that life eating life is simply one of the ways creation has of expressing and exchanging energy. Whether it is spiritual is not a property of the act; it is a property of the relationship.

Fundamentally, it is one of the ways that creation has of expressing itself, of exchanging energy, in that sense. Again, it depends on how it's done. It depends on the relationship.

This neutral view is paired with a cosmological reflection: on Bashar's world there is no predation, only symbiosis; on Earth, many of the animals are predatory because humans are. Predation here is a mirror, not an aberration.

And for the beings taken in a natural state, the experience is not what humans project onto it — they are deeply in touch with the fact that they do not end, and remain connected to the over-soul of the collective consciousness of their kind.

The non-spirituality in eating, when it appears, comes from doing it in a manner that is not natural, not steeped in gratitude and appreciation — not from the act itself. Indigenous cultures that eat meat in a sacred, grateful relationship show that the exchange can be deeply spiritual, and the animals know this and give of themselves for that exchange.

## There is no universal rule for what a body needs

A questioner who felt healthier eating meat after ten years as a vegan was told that there is no specific way to be healthy. The body's chemistry reflects the belief system and the consensus reality you have agreed to.

There is no specific way to be healthy to eat or to not to eat. No. But if you have chosen to be in a system that generally believes that it is necessary and you're continuing to buy into that system for one reason or another, then you will exhibit the parameters of the consensus reality that says you need this kind of sustenance in order to be healthy.

The rule of practice is to listen to the body consciousness, because you may still be in an apprenticeship state that requires a certain form of sustenance.

The rule of mechanics is that chemistry is reflective of energy state, and energy state is reflective of belief system — so the work is to examine why you continue to buy into the consensus reality that requires what you prefer not to need.

The same principle applies to supplements and fillers. Asked about magnesium stearate in nutraceuticals, Bashar's reply was the test itself: do you believe it is the most organic and natural thing you can use? If no, you have your answer. Different things work for different people according to their belief systems, but the general rule of the game is that everything you truly need for support has already been provided automatically on the game board by the Earth itself — and the aim is to refine your belief systems to the point where it takes very little of what is naturally provided to suffice.

## Vibration, frequency, and the trap of forcing spirituality

A common question is whether a lighter or vegan diet raises your vibration. Bashar's reply is that it can work that way, but it depends on the person: many people who are not vegan or vegetarian have very high vibrations.

It can work that way, but it again depends upon the person. There are many people who are not vegan or vegetarian who have very high vibrations. It just depends upon what you're exploring and how you explore it and how you align with things.

A generalized truth is that, as you align with your true vibration, the urge to eat things out of alignment with that frequency may naturally lessen; but forcing that process is an oxymoron. Forcing spirituality does not work. What matters is to pay attention to why you choose what you eat — because sometimes what looks like excitement is actually anxiety being called excitement so it does not have to be examined.

The practical wisdom is to follow instinct, body consciousness, excitement, and what feels natural; if a need for protein arises that a vegan diet is not meeting, trust the body consciousness that it knows what it is doing.

## The trajectory: from food, to one substance, to energy

Bashar's own civilization shows the far end of this evolution. As they evolved toward a quasi-physical state, they consolidated every idea of food on their planet down to a single substance similar to a lima bean, which sustained them for a long time. Then they evolved beyond the need for that too.

We no longer subsist on food. We used to, but no longer. Now that we are quasi-physical, we subsist primarily on energy. For a while, we consolidated all the ideas of food on our planet as we were evolving down to a single substance that was grown on our planet that is similar to something on your planet called a lima bean. And that sustained us for quite some time, but then we evolved beyond the need for that as well. We also no longer sleep.

The arc is therefore one of progressive simplification — from many foods, to one substance, to direct sustenance from energy — paired with the corresponding release of sleep. It is not held up as a goal to impose on humans; it is offered as the picture of where the trajectory that begins with listening to your own body consciousness ultimately leads.

## Practical implications

These implications are drawn from the cited teaching and stop short of dietary, nutritional, or medical direction. Decisions about diet, supplements, and treatment of any health condition belong with qualified professionals; Bashar's framing is offered alongside, not in place of, that care.

Listen to your body consciousness. You may be in an apprenticeship state that requires a particular form of sustenance; there is no universal rule, and no shame.

Bring gratitude and appreciation to whatever you eat. Spirituality belongs to the relationship, not the act.

Do not force a spiritualized diet. Forcing spirituality is an oxymoron; examine whether the choice actually arises from excitement or whether anxiety is being called excitement to avoid being examined.

Use the "is it the most natural thing?" test for supplements. If a substance is not the most natural option for you, that is your answer; the Earth already provides what is truly needed.

Examine the consensus reality you have agreed to. If your chemistry appears to require what you prefer not to need, look at why you are continuing to buy into the belief system that requires it.

Do not treat predation as a unique human evil. It is a reflection of the collective state; as the state changes, the reflection changes.

Treat the Essassani trajectory as a picture, not a prescription. Evolution toward lighter sustenance is a natural unfolding, not a goal to be imposed.

## Representative passages

Fundamentally, it is one of the ways that creation has of expressing itself, of exchanging energy, in that sense. Again, it depends on how it's done. It depends on the relationship… There are many cultures on your planet that are generally considered indigenous cultures that still eat meat that have an extremely spiritual relationship with the animals that they ingest. And the animals know this. And they give themselves, give of themselves to those people for that exchange.— Bashar, Why Does Life Eat Life (why-does-life-eat-life#qa-1)

You must listen to your body consciousness, because you may still be in an apprenticeship state that requires a certain form of sustenance. There is nothing wrong with that. It's all about how you do it. It's all about the relationship. It's all about being in gratitude and appreciation for the exchange that is given to you.— Bashar, Why Does Life Eat Life (why-does-life-eat-life#qa-1)

No longer. We also no longer sleep.— Bashar, What Do You Eat On Essassani (what-do-you-eat-on-essassani#qa-1)

It can work that way, but it again depends upon the person. There are many people who are not vegan or vegetarian who have very high vibrations… It is wise to follow your own instincts, your own body consciousness, your own highest excitement, and what seems natural for you.— Bashar, High Vibrational Dietsvegan Vegetarian (high-vibrational-dietsvegan-vegetarian#qa-1)

All the things you truly actually need for support have already been provided for you automatically on the game board by the earth itself… the idea is also for the purpose of refining your belief systems to the point, ultimately, where you know that it will take very little of what is already provided for you in a natural way to suffice to support you in all the ways that you need to be supported in your life.— Bashar, Natural And Organic Vs.Synthetic Supplements A Game Of Chess (natural-and-organic-vssynthetic-supplements-a-game-of-chess#qa-1)
