# Health

Bashar's teaching on health treats the body as a system that runs well when it is given what it needs and is allowed to express the person's natural direction. The teaching is explicitly not medical advice; the transcripts repeat the boundary themselves. Bashar affirms ordinary medical treatment as one valid path of least resistance and even calls going to the doctor a possible "highest act of spirituality" when it matches the beliefs a person actually holds (see At The Great Pyramid Q&A on healing and AIDS). What follows is what the sessions say, framed as teaching, not as care.

## The six foundational things

The most organized statement of Bashar's health teaching opens Achieving Perfect Health as a monologue, before any specific disease is discussed. He says these are the basics to lay down before any specific symptomology is addressed, and that "in the vast majority of cases these six ideas alone will prevent almost any disease." The list, in his order:

Oxygenation — deep, regular breathing (yogic, meditative, or restful); panic breathing short-circuits the oxygenation the cells need to build themselves.

Hydration — one to two quarts of water a day as a general baseline; thirst is the body's final warning signal, not a starting indicator, and many exotic symptomologies are described as symptoms of dehydration.

Exercise and movement — movement pumps the body, lets muscles flush toxins, and strengthens the muscular and skeletal structures.

Reduction of stress — many symptoms attributed to the beginnings of disease are described as side effects of undue stress; the recommendation includes letting go of work situations that do not serve you.

Removal of toxins — cleansing the build-up (heavy metals, pesticides, environmental toxicity) and removing toxins from the environment.

Lightening of diet — fresh, water-rich, raw, organic food; small amounts of protein (including meat) where necessary, but caution around toxins in meat. As the system clarifies, less food is needed.

The closing claim is characteristically absolute within Bashar's framework: "the body in and of itself has the natural intelligence to never bring about these kinds of diseases if you simply supply it with the immediate natural fuels that it needs."

Read as teaching, this is the foundation-first argument: before looking for exotic cures, supply the body's baseline. It is not a clinical claim and not a substitute for evaluation or treatment.

## Symptom as pointer toward true direction

A second pattern in these sessions treats a symptom as a nudge toward the person's actual direction, when the person has been resisting that direction. In Achieving Perfect Health the practitioner with a rash and right-side abdominal pain is told the constriction from a back brace may have affected lymphatic, neurological, or blood-delivery systems, and that the rash may be an allergic reaction — practical physical framings — and is then asked what new direction the condition puts him in touch with. When he answers "more into my healing work," Bashar asks, "Then why not focus completely there?"

The general principle is stated plainly in the same answer:

Very often when you have something that points the way to the direction of your true self and your true creative expression of your service, then you will continue to create bit by bit here and there. … The sooner you pay attention to the signs that say it is time to do something else that is indicative of your truth, the less need there will be for those things to inconvenience you or cause any kind of pain, which is always the result of the resistance of the natural self.— Bashar, Achieving Perfect Health (achieving-perfect-health#qa-3)

The framing is not that illness is deserved or chosen as punishment; it is that resistance to one's natural direction produces friction, and easing the resistance eases the friction.

## Conditions as beliefs made visible

A Cozy Little Chat (in a passage that addresses congestion) frames the mechanism generally: many undesirable conditions are "the product of belief systems that you have bought into that you don't even know you have … That's why the manifestation occurs to show you have the belief so you can change it. It doesn't occur to show you you're stuck. Doesn't occur to show you you're stupid."

The same answer points the questioner back to meditation — to discover whether the same lesson can be learned without the disease as a tool.

This is consistent with the broader Bashar vocabulary: circumstances are neutral; meaning is assigned by definition and belief.

## Tiredness as resistance, not deficiency

In A New Habit a questioner describes low energy, poor memory, and a recently worsened diet of "a lot of cereals." Bashar does not start with food. He starts by asking why the person is in a rush, and what they are avoiding:

Doing what is not you is tiring. That's where your energy is going. You are spending your energy battling, resisting your natural self. That's why you're tired.— Bashar, A New Habit (a-new-habit-qa-10)

The remedy offered is to act on whatever contains the most excitement at the moment, without negation, judgment, or reservation; energy is described as a consequence of acting on the natural direction rather than a prerequisite for it.

This is the same "act on excitement" formula that runs through Bashar's broader teaching, applied here to a health-shaped complaint.

## Application to specific conditions

Diabetes. The questioner who names diabetes is steered toward what they already know about eating "light, natural, organic food" and listening to body consciousness; the cleaning-up is framed as a permission slip that shifts the experience, not as a clinical protocol. Bashar asks whether prior detox produced an increase in energy and more stable blood sugar; on a yes, he says: do it again.

The framing is explicit: "as a permission slip, you will change that experience."

Medication residues after detoxification. The practitioner on a raw-food-and-herb program who still detects residue via iris reading is told to "up the lemon juice content by a factor of three at least … somewhere between 3 and 10 times the lemon juice factor, it will help flush that out."

This is a specific source-reported recommendation; the lesson explicitly labels it a "source-specific detoxification claim, not medical guidance or a substitute for clinical care."

A parent's tumor. In A New Habit a questioner asks about a parent's lung tumor. Bashar names a medical doctor exploring enzyme-strengthened natural substances (the questioner's own research, echoed back), mentions that hydrogen sulfate "can be of assistance" but depends on body chemistry and can have side effects — and then redirects to the deeper issue: the parent's lifelong anxiety and the lung's connection to inability to express. "Without the exploration of why the anxiety is there, anything that you may discover that would be of assistance might be only temporary."

This is metaphysical framing layered on top of, not against, ordinary medical avenues.

Pain and medication. In A New Reality Bashar affirms medication that has helped — "The medication has helped you; is that okay by you?" — and reframes the questioner's struggle with a "future self" as creating friction by comparison; the invitation is to "be the future you now" rather than chase a higher-frequency future version.

## Permission slips

The diabetes exchange makes explicit what the other sessions assume: Bashar calls the dietary and detoxification methods permission slips — tools the person can use to give themselves permission to change. "If that's the permission slip that works for you, do it until you have arrived at your optimum setting … You don't have to make this complicated or mysterious."

The point applies to every method in this chapter, including the six foundations themselves: they are what the body needs in Bashar's framing, and they are also the permission a person gives themselves to operate as their natural self.

## Practical implications

Start with the baseline. Oxygenation, hydration, movement, stress reduction, toxin removal, and a lightened diet come first; specific protocols come after these are in place.

Ordinary care is not in opposition. The transcripts repeatedly affirm medication, doctors, and clinical tools as valid paths of least resistance.

None of this chapter is medical advice or a replacement for evaluation or treatment by a qualified professional.

Ask what a symptom points toward. Beyond the physical cause, Bashar's consistent prompt is to look at what direction the condition is pushing — and whether moving there voluntarily would reduce the friction.

Use permission slips deliberately. Detox protocols, diet changes, enzymes, lemon juice, and similar tools are framed as permission slips rather than as universally required mechanisms.

Tiredness may be resistance, not deficit. Where energy is low and no acute illness is present, Bashar's question is what the person is avoiding; acting on excitement is offered as the restoration.

Do not confuse teaching with diagnosis. The conditions-are-beliefs framing is metaphysical explanation in Bashar's framework. It is not a license to override medical evaluation, and the transcripts themselves preserve that boundary.

## Representative passages

Number one, then oxygenation of the system. Number two, hydration of the system. … Each and every one of you must find that it will be generally acceptable to have between one and two quarts of water a day. … Number three … Exercise. Movement. … Number four, the reduction of stress in the system. … Number five, the actual attempt at elimination of whatever toxins may already be in the system. … Number six, the idea also of lightening of your diet. … these six ideas alone will eliminate almost any chance you will ever have of contracting any kind of disease in your life at all.— Bashar, Achieving Perfect Health (achieving-perfect-health#text)

The body in and of itself has the natural intelligence to never bring about these kinds of diseases if you simply supply it with the immediate natural fuels that it needs.— Bashar, Achieving Perfect Health (achieving-perfect-health#text)

Many of the things that you do not necessarily prefer in life, many of the things that you would call negative, are usually the product of belief systems that you have bought into that you don't even know you have. That's why the diseases, the negative situations come up. That's why they manifest. To show you, look, this is what you believe in.— Bashar, A Cozy Little Chat (a-cozy-little-chat#qa-3)

Doing what is not you is tiring. That's where your energy is going. You are spending your energy battling, resisting your natural self. That's why you're tired.— Bashar, A New Habit (a-new-habit#qa-10)

Up the lemon juice content by a factor of three at least. … somewhere between 3 and 10 times the lemon juice factor, it will help flush that out.— Bashar, Detoxification Lemon Juice (detoxification-lemon-juice#qa-1)

If that's the permission slip that works for you, do it until you have arrived at your optimum setting. … It's as simple as that. You don't have to make this complicated or mysterious.— Bashar, Diabetes Detoxification Eat Light Natural Organic Bashar Nexus Point (diabetes-detoxification-eat-light-natural-organic-bashar-nexus-point#qa-2)
