# Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming — waking up inside a dream and knowing you are dreaming — is, in Bashar's teaching, much more than a curiosity of sleep. It is practice for waking up inside physical reality itself, which Bashar describes as another dream the soul is having. The dream state is where you go to the template-level reality where the soul and higher mind lay out the blueprint of what will manifest physically; becoming lucid there lets you rearrange that blueprint consciously. Pursued deeply enough, dream lucidity and waking lucidity close the gap between them until, as Bashar describes his own civilization, you live always asleep and always awake.

## The pursuit is the path

Bashar's reframing of how to induce lucid dreaming is itself the lesson. There are many permission slips — books, teachers, one's own imagination, even technology — but the act of seeking is the induction. Go forth to find out how to lucid dream, and while you are looking for the information you will suddenly realize that you are already lucidly dreaming. The pursuit is itself what leads you into the state.

## The template-level reality: where lucid dreaming does its work

Bashar locates the lucid dream in a specific layer of the self. When the soul incarnates, it splits into the higher mind (which remains non-physical, "like someone standing on the mountaintop") and the physical mind (down in the valley). Between them lies the template-level reality — the place where the soul and higher mind build the blueprint of the themes you will explore, the agreements you have made, and the physical reality that will manifest.

When you go into dream state you are, in a sense, going to that template level. Lucid there, you can rearrange the blueprint, and the physical reality you re-insert yourself into upon waking carries the rearrangement. This is what Bashar says his civilization did: once they learned to become truly lucid in the dream state they never went back. They altered the physical-reality blueprint to align with dream lucidity and now live "always asleep and always awake."

The same teaching appears in Bashar's opening monologue on the dream state: the lucid dream state is the template-level reality, the borderline between the non-physical higher mind and the physical mind where you plan your day and life "like a blueprint, like a chart." When you dream, you can go back there and rearrange things — look at the agreements you have made, the themes you have chosen — and then experience physically the rearrangement you made energetically.

## Dream lucidity trains waking lucidity

The practical core of Bashar's framing is the symmetry between dream and waking. A higher degree of lucidity in the dream trains a higher degree of lucidity in physical life. Physical reality is also just a dream; as you become more lucid in sleep, you match the vibration of that lucidity while awake, until the difference between the two narrows toward one.

This is also why excitement can snap you back to your body in a lucid dream. You have only habituated yourself to feeling that vibration in physical ways, so the body-brain insists on a physical environment to experience it. The correction is the same recognition from the other side: know you are living a dream right now, let the physical and non-physical dreams blend, and the control you have in physical reality will leak into the dream, and vice versa. The dream and physical realities are not two separate realities — it is all one reality.

A permission-slip teaching makes the same point from another angle. Mushrooms and similar teachers are valuable only insofar as they let you learn a vibrational state you can later recreate from your own energy. Their real purpose is to show you that physical reality is itself a mystery school and a dream; the complacency that makes physicality feel mundane is only a definition. Redefine physical reality as the magical dream it is and you will become lucid in it.

## What you have already seen but do not yet remember

Bashar treats the apparent failure to see certain beings or scenes in dreams as a matter of timing and integration rather than absence. Much of what you think you have not seen, you have in fact already seen — you simply do not remember yet. The rate at which you remember and integrate what you have already experienced is the rate at which you are ready for more. Sometimes you are allowed to see something but are made to forget so it does not interfere with your life. Trust the timing; ask, then get on with following your highest joy, and let more arrive when it actually serves.

## Symbols encountered in lucid dreams

Lucid dreams often deliver symbols that the dreamer can read after the fact. In one exchange a dreamer who realized they were dreaming looked at their hand and saw colored beads curling into a circle, like a six with a circle on top. Bashar identified it as the chakra system that the dreamer normally perceived linearly up the spine, now being shown turned into a self-feeding circle — the uroboros — so that the Kundalini energy could cycle and amplify itself. The symbol was an instruction: link the chakras in a self-perpetuating loop to "amp your energy up."

In another session a dreamer described a long lucid sequence — sinking as a pebble into a Greek temple, being cloaked by a dolphin, becoming a mermaid, arriving at a magical pool where fairy beings appeared. Bashar said this was real Atlantean concurrent activity and pointed to the historical era tied to the dreamer's name (the Elizabethan age) as a thread to explore. For the breathing practice they had asked about, Bashar prescribed the octahedron — two four-sided pyramids joined at the square base — because oxygen is the "transmutational element" and the octahedron reigns in certain domains of consciousness.

These readings illustrate a working principle rather than a fixed symbol dictionary: the meaning of a lucid-dream symbol is found by relating it to the dreamer's own structure (chakras, name, era, life themes), never by looking it up in a generic table.

## Permission slips and technologies

Bashar names one specific technology permission slip now available on the planet: the rapid-eye-movement (REM) mask, worn during sleep, which generates flashes of infrared light through the eyelids. The light enters the dream; the dreamer trains themselves to recognize it as a signal that they are dreaming, becomes lucid, and can then signal the mask to stop flashing so it does not interrupt the now-lucid dream. The point is not the device itself — "there are many ways to go about it" — but the reliable trigger it provides.

## Practical implications

Treat dream lucidity and waking lucidity as one training. The habit you build in sleep — recognizing the dream as a dream — is the same recognition that lets physical reality become more malleable. Practice either side and both benefit.

Use any permission slip that works; do not depend on it. Books, teachers, an REM mask, imagination, or — where appropriate and lawful for you — teacher plants, are all entry points. Their purpose is to let you learn a vibration you then recreate from your own energy; needing the slip forever inverts the teaching.

Read dream symbols against your own structure, not a generic dictionary. A symbol's meaning is found by relating it to your chakras, your history, your themes, your name. If a reading does not land, the symbol is not yet for you, or the timing is not.

Trust the rate of remembering. You have likely already experienced more than you consciously recall. Integrating what you already remember — behaving differently because of it — is what unlocks the next layer; pushing for more before integration is the slowdown.

When excitement snaps you back, change the habit of feeling. The snap is not a limit of the dream; it is the body-brain's insistence that an intense feeling needs a physical environment. Know physical reality is itself a dream and the habit relaxes.

Do not fear the subconscious and unconscious. Bashar reverses the usual picture: the physical mind is the lowest of the three layers. Going into feelings (subconscious) and beliefs (unconscious) is going up toward the template level and the higher mind. The unknown is where the rest of you resides, and the only thing you will ever discover there is more of yourself.

This topic is metaphysical exploration of consciousness and dream states. It is not medical, psychological, or legal guidance, and Bashar's framing of teacher plants and altered states is not a prescription. Where a permission slip involves a substance, the boundary is the law of your jurisdiction and your own medical and psychological circumstances.

## Representative passages

Go and find some more ideas on your own. Go forth lucidly to find out information on how to lucid dream. And when you start doing that before you know it, while you're looking for that information, you'll suddenly realize that you are lucidly dreaming.— Bashar, Your Highest Excitement Has Multiple Expressions Of That Excitement (your-highest-excitement-has-multiple-expressions-of-that-excitement#qa-5)

In between the two is what we call the template-level reality — the actual place where the soul and the higher mind create the blueprint, lay out the blueprint for the themes you will explore, literally construct the physical reality blueprint of what will manifest. When you go into a dream state, you're going, in a sense, to the template-level reality. And if you are lucid in it and understand that you're awake in the dream, then you can actually use the template-level reality blueprint to rearrange and reorganize the physical reality that you re-insert yourself back into.— Bashar, The Higher The Lucidity In The Dream The Higher Lucidity In Life (the-higher-the-lucidity-in-the-dream-the-higher-lucidity-in-life#qa-2)

Allow yourself to know you are living a dream right now, and allow the physical dream to blend with the non-physical dream so that you always know you are dreaming and also wide awake… The dream reality and the physical reality are not two separate realities — it is all one reality.— Bashar, Accelerating Your Frequency3 (accelerating-your-frequency3#qa-12)

Many of you think you haven't seen certain things when, in fact, you have already seen them but you don't remember. We and others are using the rate at which you remember what you've already seen to determine when you're ready for more.— Bashar, You Cannot Perceive What You Do Not Contain (you-cannot-perceive-what-you-do-not-contain#qa-2)

Physical reality is a mystery school — very magical, very mysterious, very powerful. You just need to learn to define it that way and you will experience it that way… It's just that you don't think that physical reality is a dream. The teachers are attempting to show you that it's a dream, but you have to know that it's a dream and allow yourself to realize it's a dream.— Bashar, Mushrooms As A Permission Slip And Teacher (mushrooms-as-a-permission-slip-and-teacher#qa-2)
