# Memory

Bashar treats memory as a present-tense act of construction rather than a stored recording of the past. When you remember something, you are creating the recollection right now; the felt continuity with a "past" event is produced in the moment of recall. Because memory is built in the now, it shares its mechanism with imagination: pretending an encounter already happened can let real fragments of it surface, and consciously constructing a "future memory" is used as a manifestation tool. This chapter draws the principle, the technique, and two related applications — recovering deliberately forgotten contact, and the use of heartbeat rhythm to recall very early experience.

## Memory is created in the present

The core claim appears most directly in Future Memory: "You don't actually remember the past per se. You create an idea. You create a perception in the present that you call a memory of the past. It is a memory, so to speak. It is a recognition. It is a cognition in the present … of another probable you, another aspect of the total being that you are."

Memory is therefore placed in the same family as parallel selves — past, present, and future aspects are all coexisting, and what we call remembering is the present act of tuning attention to one of them. "The future that you desire so strongly is going on right now, simultaneously, with the reality you say is usually the only one you actually think is going on right now, just as the past is still happening right now."

The practical correlate is that the felt intensity of a recollection is not evidence of an external past event; it is evidence of a present state. Fears Come From The Present Apply New Law2 makes the same move for fear: a fear that feels "from the past" is a state being generated now and projected backward through the convention of memory.

## Future memory: building the desired scenario as if already recalled

Future Memory turns the principle into a tool. The instructions are precise: list a number of genuinely enjoyable past memories, recall each one fully ("really smell and really taste and really hear and really see and really feel"),

then insert the desired future scenario somewhere in the list and cycle through until "the future memory is as strongly recalled as the past memories, until there is no difference in your reaction between the two."

The aim is to make the body and consciousness vibrate as if the desired event has already happened, on the logic that "if your body resonance, if your consciousness resonance begins to vibrate at a frequency that says this has already happened, then your reality cannot let such a vacuum stand in your physical manifestations."

This is presented as a technique, not as a guarantee of any specific outcome. The teaching is that the present-tense construction of memory is the mechanism that makes the technique coherent; whether any particular desired scenario arrives in physical form is a separate matter.

## Recovering deliberately forgotten contact

Msbecka3 Youve Already Met Us applies the same mechanism to contact memory. Bashar describes a forgetting technique learned from the race called the Thook: "as long as you were talking to them and facing them, everything seemed normal, but as soon as you turned away, you completely forgot you had had that conversation with them at all."

He says his people use the same technique to appear physically to some humans and then allow them to forget, so the encounter does not disrupt ordinary life.

Recovery proceeds through imagination rather than through literal recall: "play with the fact in your imagination. Let a picture unwind … imagine or pretend an actual encounter where you really have met us face to face. It doesn't matter if it's absolutely, literally accurate; use that as a symbol to garner the energy of the encounter."

As the imagination runs the scenario, fragments may begin to "take on a life of their own," revealing themselves as genuine recollection. The test offered is qualitative — a "lucid quality," a moment where "you will see the true life in our eyes and you will know that the encounter was real" — and is explicitly a subjective recognition.

## The Atlantean heartbeat technique: rhythmic induction of memory

Atlantean Learning Technique Drums Heart Beat describes a different memory-related practice attributed to Atlantis. A drum is beaten at the rate of the waking heartbeat and then slowed toward the rate of the dream-state heartbeat; the children allow their own heartbeats to slow to match it and enter "a synchronous kind of daydream" in which they are guided to "actually feel they are becoming that scenario or actually interacting in that scenario."

The same heartbeat resonance is said to support regression: by mimicking the heartbeat "that the child felt in the mother's womb, you can actually allow the child to have very clear memories of the entire birthing process and everything from that point forward."

The mechanism is the same one operative throughout the topic: a present physiological state (induced by rhythm) becomes the platform on which a "memory" can be constructed or recovered. Whether the Atlantean technique is historical is presented as Bashar's claim, not independently verifiable.

## Mutability and the discontinuity of continuity

Mutability situates memory inside Bashar's larger parallel-realities teaching. Time is described as "discrete, in a sense, moments, not one unbroken stream," with realities "taking turns" between the moments.

Continuity — including the felt continuity of being the same remembering self across time — is "totally at your discretion, totally within your control … within the idea you have of yourself."

Memory, in this view, is the act of stitching discrete frames into a storyline; change the self-definition and the stitches fall differently.

## Practical implications

Treat remembering as a present act. When a memory carries a strong feeling, the feeling is being generated in the now, not imported from the past. This makes memory a present-tense lever rather than a fixed record.

Use future memory as a structured technique. Recall several genuinely enjoyable past events in full sensory detail, insert the desired scenario among them, and cycle until the body responds to the future scenario as it does to the past ones. The technique is presented as a way to align present state with preferred outcome, not as a guarantee of any particular external result.

Let imagination lead when literal recall is blocked. For experiences that feel just out of reach (including the contact-recovery framing), pretending the scenario in imagination is offered as the route by which genuine fragments may surface.

Use rhythm to shift the state from which memory is built. The Atlantean drum-and-heartbeat method is described as a way to enter the daydream state in which learning-by-identification and very-early-memory recovery become possible.

Read discontinuity as freedom. If continuity is a present act of self-definition, then changing the self-definition can change which "past" the present appears to continue from.

This is metaphysical guidance rather than medical, psychological, or legal direction. Nothing here should be read as a substitute for professional evaluation of trauma, recovered-memory concerns, or any clinical matter.

## Representative passages

You don't actually remember the past per se. You create an idea. You create a perception in the present that you call a memory of the past. It is a memory, so to speak. It is a recognition. It is a cognition in the present, so to speak, of another probable you, another aspect of the total being that you are.— Bashar, Future Memory (future-memory#text)

Play with the fact in your imagination. Let a picture unwind … imagine or pretend an actual encounter where you really have met us face to face. It doesn't matter if it's absolutely, literally accurate; use that as a symbol to garner the energy of the encounter. … It will have a realistic, lucid quality to it. In that fraction of an instant you will see the true life in our eyes and you will know that the encounter was real.— Bashar, Msbecka3 Youve Already Met Us (msbecka3-youve-already-met-us#qa-1)

Once the heartbeat sound is mimicked and mirrored, and you can take that resonance and the periodicity of the beat to the idea of the heartbeat that the child felt in the mother's womb, you can actually allow the child to have very clear memories of the entire birthing process and everything from that point forward.— Bashar, Atlantean Learning Technique Drums Heart Beat (atlantean-learning-technique-drums-heart-beat#qa-3)

Any idea of continuity from one moment to the next is totally at your discretion, is totally within your control. It's totally within the idea you have of yourself.— Bashar, Mutability (mutability#text)
