# Parallel Systems

In these transcripts "parallel systems" is a practical political and economic idea, not a metaphysical abstraction: when an existing societal structure — governmental, monetary, religious, or otherwise — no longer serves, the recommended response is to build positive alternatives alongside it rather than to wage war on the old structure. The old system is expected to collapse under its own rigidity, and the work is to have a replacement already seeded when that happens.

## Build alongside, do not tear down

The clearest statement of the principle comes in response to a question about what an individual can do in the face of large political forces. Bashar's repeated instruction is to "develop parallel systems — not take down the systems that are there, develop parallel systems, parallel systems that are positive." The reasoning is structural: the systems already in place are "incapable of surviving under their own weight," and when they collapse it is the previously-built alternatives that take their place. The work is therefore creative and constructive — using imagination, behavior, and action to be "a shining example of what the world can be like" — rather than oppositional.

The same frame is applied to what is called the New World Order. Rather than fight a control structure, those so inclined are invited to "lay the foundation for alternative systems" now, so that "alternative methodologies of exchange, self-empowerment, creative expression, and service" are ready to take over when the rigid old structure crumbles. The control structure finds "no ground to take root in" when the alternative is already functioning.

## The economic form of a parallel system

The revaluation-of-currencies sessions apply the same logic to exchange. The eventual medium of exchange on Earth is described as the skills, abilities, and gifts that people themselves have to share, rather than arbitrary currency. The transition is explicitly gradual: "for a while you will experiment with and explore different ways of valuating and different ways of creating what you call credit," until the recognition settles that the only non-arbitrary value is what people can give each other. A true revamping of exchange also requires the "dissolving of many of your political, sociological, religious borders," with everything changing together "until you have a holistic system that works for you globally."

Read together, these sessions describe parallel systems as the constructive bridge between an unworkable present and a holistic future: the new patterns are seeded first in small scale (a different way of valuing, an alternative project, a new network of communication), and only later replace the old.

## Parallel systems are distinct from parallel realities

A naming note for retrieval. This topic is about building alternative societal systems in the same reality; the corpus's many discussions of shifting to a different version of Earth by changing vibration belong to parallel-realities. The two ideas are neighbors — Bashar's "you are your governments" stance is itself an application of the mirror-nature of reality to politics — but they route to different source sets and should not be conflated.

## Practical implications

The teaching orients action rather than prescribing a particular program. A learner working from these transcripts would ask: what constructive alternative can I help build — in exchange, in communication, in service, in self-empowerment — that demonstrates the world I prefer? The recommendation is to reinforce the positive across cultures, to find commonalities that respect differences, and to put new systems into effect through imagination and action rather than through opposition to the old.

The teaching does not provide a political platform, an investment thesis, or a policy blueprint, and the date-laden predictions elsewhere in the corpus are qualified by their sources as readings of present momentum rather than fixed outcomes. The safe reading is practical and ethical: build the alternative you prefer, responsibly, within the obligations and consent of the actual situation.

## Representative passages

You are your governments. And if you do not prefer what is going on on your planet, do something about it... Reinforce the positive elements in all the cultures and allow yourselves to develop parallel systems — not take down the systems that are there, develop parallel systems, parallel systems that are positive. Then when the systems that are already in place that are incapable of surviving under their own weight collapse, new systems will already be there to take their place.— Bashar, The War With Iraq (the-war-with-iraq#qa-2)

The idea of a new world order will find no ground to take root in if you allow yourself to begin now, in your own truth and self-empowerment, to lay the foundation for alternative systems... by then, if those with a mind to have put into place the seed foundation of new alternative methodologies of exchange, self-empowerment, creative expression, and service, they will be ready to take over when the other no longer applies.— Bashar, Remembering Who You Are (remembering-who-you-are#qa-11)
