# Permission Slips

A permission slip, in Bashar's teaching, is any tool, technique, ritual, concept, symbol, or object you attract to yourself in order to give yourself permission to be more of who you are. The slip itself does nothing; you do. The power is never in the object — it is in the belief you hold about your relationship to it. Because each person is a distinct signature vibration, whatever tool you are attracted to is, at that moment, the one keyed to your frequency, and that is the only thing that makes it the "right" one for you. The long-run point of every permission slip is to outgrow the need for it: to arrive at the place where you simply choose to be the state of being you prefer, with no external excuse required.

## The power is never in the object — it is in you

The foundational move is to relocate the source of any effect from the tool to the one who uses it. A crystal, a meditation, a plant teacher, a book, a therapy, a 401k — each carries its own physical attributes, but none of them creates an effect within you unless you choose to match the frequency of the idea it symbolizes for you. You are generating the effect yourself, out of your own energy; the permission slip is simply the symbol your belief system can relate to, the context that makes it all right to be who you are. You are giving yourself permission through the symbol.

This is why the same practice can work powerfully for one person and do nothing for another. The technique, tool, ritual, or object is not doing anything — you are. It matters only that you are attracted to use it, because that attraction is the signature of an alignment between the slip and your belief system. It may not work for anyone else, and tomorrow you may be attracted to something entirely different; that change is itself the product of a change in your frequency, and the new slip is then the perfect one for the new moment.

## All permission slips are equal to the universe

Because the slip is only a mirror of belief, no technique is intrinsically better than another. Meditation, immersion in water, tarot cards, plant medicines, a religion taken as a stepping stone, a particular frequency of sound, a particular healing modality — to the universe they are all the same. They differ only in whose belief system they fit. When you ask which technique to use, the answer is to rely on your imagination and on what you are attracted to: if you are attracted to it, do it; if you are not, do not. The tool that works for you is the one that allows you, within your belief system, to give yourself permission to be more of who you are.

This leveling has a practical consequence: you need not search for the "best" technique or compare your slip to anyone else's. The question is never whether a tool is objectively powerful; the question is whether it matches where your belief system is aligned right now. When it does, it is the right one. When it stops doing so, the attraction fades — and that fading is information, not failure.

## Physical action itself is a permission slip

A category-expanding application: even ordinary physical action is a permission slip. Using your muscles to cross a room is simply the permission slip your civilization agreed upon for changing a location that is, fundamentally, a frequency variable. The motion looks mechanical, but it is the same principle — an agreed-upon symbol that makes a change acceptable within collective belief. Extending this to a substance or a guide: the tool does not create the effect; you create it by believing in the tool, and once the tool has shown you what is possible you no longer need it.

Bashar's own transmissions are presented under this same frame: everything we deliver to you, he says, is nothing but another form of permission slip — take which one works for you, and let the ones that do not be. The teaching itself is not exempt from the rule it teaches.

## The eventual point is to no longer need them

The trajectory of any permission slip is toward its own obsolescence. As you grow, you arrive at the recognition that any technique, any tool, will do the same thing — they are all equal, all valid — and from there you eventually realize you do not really need them in order to make a change within yourself. You shortcut the process: you simply choose to be that state of being. You may still attract a tool because it is fun, or because it gives you a reason to do what you wish to do anyway — and that is fine — but knowing that the tool is optional eliminates the need for it. You are the primary tool; you are the primary technique.

## Diagnostic slips: the threshold of believability

Some permission slips are diagnostic rather than productive: they reveal the hidden belief rather than produce the change. The threshold-of-believability test is the clearest example. Name a version of yourself you desire to be, then count down the timeframe your present beliefs will allow: twenty years? yes. Ten? yes. Five? — a flicker of hesitation. The moment you first hesitate is how long the change will take under your current belief system. Examine the belief: what would I have to believe is true for it to take that long? Find it, let it go, and take the test again. As each limiting belief is cleared, whatever time remains is the time the process actually needs.

This works as a permission slip because it makes the invisible structure visible: the hesitation is the edge of a belief, and once the belief is named it can be changed. The test does not create the change; you do, by recognizing and releasing the definition that was holding the timeframe in place.

## Healing modalities as permission slips

When a questioner asks about a specific medical methodology — stem-cell research for a spinal-cord injury — Bashar frames the methodology itself as a permission slip. Whether a particular modality will work depends on the belief system of the individual, on whether that slip will allow them to activate their own ability to heal themselves. The same principle returns: the modality is not the source of the healing; the individual's alignment with it is. Healing, theme permitting, follows the same rule as every other effect — it is generated by the one who uses the slip.

## Practical implications

Relocate the power from the tool to yourself. When you reach for a technique, a ritual, or an object, recognize that you are the one generating the effect; the slip is the symbol your belief can relate to.

Let attraction choose the slip. The right tool is the one you are attracted to right now; it may not work for anyone else, and that is fine.

Treat all techniques as equal to the universe. No technique is intrinsically better; what matters is the fit between the slip and your current belief system.

Use the threshold-of-believability test to surface hidden limits. Count down the timeframe until you first hesitate; that hesitation marks the real time your current beliefs allow and the belief to clear.

Aim to outgrow the slip. The long-run point is to choose the state of being directly, with no external excuse; tools remain useful when they are fun, no longer necessary when they are crutches.

Medical and financial boundary. Bashar frames healing modalities, supplements, and methodologies as permission slips — metaphysical framing about belief, not medical direction. They do not replace diagnosis, treatment, or the advice of qualified practitioners, and they do not guarantee any physical outcome.

## Representative passages

What they really simply are are permission slips that you give to yourself to be who you are. The power does not exist in those objects, in those rituals. No real effect per se comes from them. … the idea is that it still doesn't really create any effect within you or do anything for you unless you choose to match the frequency of the idea it symbolizes for you. So you are generating the effect yourself out of your own energy, but what you are doing is you are relying on your belief system … to attract to you the symbol that best reflects the vibration within you that will allow you permission to be yourself.— Bashar, Permission Slips (permission-slips#text)

All tools, all techniques, all rituals, and all objects are permission slips that are in alignment with your belief system. That is why you are attracted to a particular tool, ritual, technique, or object, because you believe that particular thing will allow you to give yourself permission to be more of who you are. The technique, tool, ritual, or object is not doing anything. You are.— Bashar, Permission Slips Are All Equal To The Universe A Game Of Chess (permission-slips-are-all-equal-to-the-universe-a-game-of-chess#qa-1)

Rely on your imagination, rely on what you are attracted to. If you are attracted to meditation, do it. If you are not, do not. If you are attracted to being immersed in water, do it. If you are not, do not. If you are attracted to use tarot cards, do it. If you are not, do not. It is all the same to the universe.— Bashar, Permission Slips Are All Equal To The Universe A Game Of Chess (permission-slips-are-all-equal-to-the-universe-a-game-of-chess#qa-2)

Give yourself the threshold of believability test: if there is someone you desire to be, with your present belief system, how long do you actually believe it will take you to become that person? Start way out in the future — 20 years from now … As soon as you do the countdown, the moment you hesitate to say yes absolutely, the moment there is even a fraction of hesitation, that's how long it will take with your current belief system. Now examine the belief: what would I have to believe is true in order for that process to take that amount of time?— Bashar, Threshold Of Believability Test All Beliefs Are Self reinforcing (threshold-of-believability-test-all-beliefs-are-self-reinforcing#qa-4)

In reference to any particular medical methodology, it is a tool — a permission slip. It depends upon the belief system of the individual as to whether that particular permission slip will allow them to activate their ability to heal themselves.— Bashar, Permission Slips (permission-slips#qa-5)
