# Personality Structure

Personality, in Bashar's model, is not who you are. It is an artificial construct — a temporary apparatus the soul builds to experience physical reality from one specific point of view.

The construct is assembled from three ingredients: belief, emotion (feeling), and thought (mind). Each is a rotation of consciousness projected into physical form, and together they form the personality that then behaves and acts.

Bashar frames this as a working model of how physical consciousness is structured, not as clinical or diagnostic psychology. Because the personality is a construct, you are its mechanic: you designed it, you can take it apart, and you can redesign it any way you wish.

## Belief, emotion, and thought — the prism

Across the transcripts the same three-part prism recurs. The personality is described as "an artificial projection of consciousness, composed like a prism of belief, emotion, and thought" — change any one of the three and the prism disassembles and reassembles into a different person.

Change the personality by changing the belief, the emotion, and the thought patterns, says Bashar, and you are "literally, literally, literally becoming a different person."

The three are not independent layers stacked on top of a static self; they are the active composition of whoever you are being in this moment. Working on the personality therefore means working on the ingredients — most fundamentally on the belief, from which emotion and thought cascade.

## You are not the same person moment to moment

A consequence Bashar presses hard: the personality is being recreated continuously. The soul creates a new persona for each new moment of experience, and that new persona has, strictly speaking, no history. "It is not the same person changing a little bit; it is a different person created moment to moment, totally, utterly, absolutely."

The felt continuity of being "the same person" is a present-moment definition you are holding, not an inheritance from a past self. This is why Bashar can say that nothing from the past influences you without your present assumption that it does — the connection to a limiting past is a definition you are choosing now. What you decide you are at any given moment is what then is the case.

## Depression as the rearrangement state

A distinctive teaching in the personality sessions is the reframing of depression. Bashar describes depression as a kind of meditation — a withdrawal to the center of the self to rearrange the beliefs, feelings, and mentality that make up the personality. In that raw, unlocked state, you surround yourself with a protective buffering field so that you can still function in physicality while the personality is, in effect, taken apart and put back together. When you re-emerge, you are a new person — "I feel like a new person" — because you have redefined the parameters of the personality.

Depression carries a negative connotation only because society reads the withdrawal as anti-social; without that judgment, the same rearrangement could be experienced as insight or revelation. This is a metaphysical reframing and is not a medical or clinical claim about mood disorders, which still warrant professional care.

## You are the mechanic of the personality

Because the personality is a construct, you are not trapped in any one configuration. The instruction is to "allow yourself to know that you are the mechanic of your personality. You have designed it and can take it apart and redesign it any way you wish."

Practically, this is done by calling up a different persona — one that already has no concept of the limitation the current persona is experiencing — and behaving as that persona. Bashar's example: when caught in a pattern of scarcity, call up a persona that is fully abundant and "has absolutely no concept of lack of abundance," then approach the situation as that new person. The new persona often cannot even relate to the problem the old one was experiencing, because they are, in this model, literally different people.

The you that you ultimately are, Bashar says elsewhere in the same session, is the feeling itself — the beingness, the vibration — not the conceptual definition the physical mind layers on top of it.

## Practical implications

Bashar treats personality structure as a working model with practical handles, not as fixed identity:

Locate the belief at the base. Emotion and thought cascade from definitions; rearranging the personality means changing the belief first, then letting the new emotion and thought follow.

Treat the persona as replaceable, not as you. When a pattern repeats, call up a persona that has no concept of that pattern and behave as that persona; you are not the same person who had the problem.

Use the present to define, not the past to explain. Each moment's persona has no history; any hold the past appears to have is a definition being made now.

Allow the disassembly. Periods that feel like the personality is coming apart can be exactly that — the prism disassembling and reassembling. Witnessing that restructuring, rather than fighting it, is part of becoming conscious of how reality is created.

You are the feeling, not the definition. Beneath the personality's conceptual layers, the beingness itself is the feeling — that is who you ultimately are and what you act from.

These are metaphysical orientations toward identity and change. Bashar's reframing of depression as a personality-rearrangement state is a teaching analogy, not medical advice; mood disorders and acute psychological distress warrant professional care, and nothing here is a substitute for that.

## Representative passages

What you would call your personality is an artificial construct. It is not who nor what you are. You are not your personality. Your personality is created by your identity consciousness to serve specific purposes upon your planet in your physical life, here and now. Recognize that your personality is constructed from three basic ingredients, your belief, your feeling, and your mind... Allow simply yourself to know that you are the mechanic of your personality. You have designed it and can take it apart and redesign it any way you wish.— Bashar, Mechanics Of Personality (mechanics-of-personality#text)

It is not the same person changing a little bit; it is a different person created moment to moment, totally, utterly, absolutely. You have no history. When you understand this as a state of awareness... what you decide you are at any given moment will be the case.— Bashar, Re creating Yourself (re-creating-yourself#qa-1)

What you are as a personality is not really who you are ultimately; it is an artificial projection of consciousness, composed like a prism of belief, emotion, and thought. Any time you change the idea of who you are, you disassemble the prism and reassemble it.— Bashar, The Most Important Thing (the-most-important-thing#qa-11)

When you change the personality by changing the belief, by changing the emotion, by changing the thought patterns, you are literally, literally, literally becoming a different person... Conjure up a personality, a persona that is abundant, fully abundant, has absolutely no concept of lack of abundance.— Bashar, Shattering Old Patterns (shattering-old-patterns#qa-4)

You are that feeling. That's who you are. The feeling itself, the vibration itself, that's who you are.— Bashar, Shattering Old Patterns (shattering-old-patterns#qa-5)
