# Pets & Animals

Animals are autonomous facets of consciousness, not secondary or subservient to human consciousness. They are also, simultaneously, reflectors: an animal in your life can mirror aspects of the person interacting with it. Both things are true at once — autonomy and reflection — and Bashar's teaching on pets and animals holds them together rather than collapsing one into the other.

## Each facet is unique and necessary

Animal consciousness survives physical life as everything does, because the physical is only the temporary manifestation. But an animal does not literally reincarnate as a human. "Everything that exists already as its unique expression of creation" — each facet of the multidimensional crystal is permanent, and one thing cannot become another without losing that facet. That facet is needed for All-That-Is to be All-That-Is.

This reframes the familiar idea that humans are "above" animals. The belief that humanity was put here to dominate or control the animal kingdom is, in Bashar's words, "not a relationship with nature. That's a relationship with normalization." A true relationship with nature would be more egalitarian — and in many cases, "many humans have a long way to go to reach the level of intelligence expressed by the animal kingdom." An animal's intelligence is not less because it does not think like a human; it is focused in a pure direction.

## Animals as symbolic reflectors

Because animals reflect the program a human is running, the relationship is two-way. If humanity's theme has been predatory, the animal kingdom happily reflects that back; as humanity becomes more symbiotic, so do they.

In a person's individual life, an animal often mirrors a process in that person's own consciousness. An ill pet that you cannot bear to euthanize can mirror your own willingness to put up with suffering and your timing in giving yourself permission to understand that challenge need not mean suffering. The reflection is not a punishment or a verdict on you; it is an opportunity.

Wild or chance animal encounters can function as guides. A lizard seeking warmth from a sleeper in the desert, or an owl appearing in a vision quest, can act as a reflection of a portion of yourself and an opportunity to experience a connection within nature.

The pigeon that appears when you are wrestling with communication between facets of your personality is the "symbol of the messenger," not a literal omen.

## Euthanasia, transition, and continued consciousness

Because animal consciousness continues beyond the physical, a loving decision to let an animal transition carries no negativity. "If you do that out of love, there will be nothing negative about it whatsoever. The animal understands, and the animal knows its consciousness continues." Bashar's counsel is to have a dialogue — physically or in dreams — with the animal, ask whether it would like simply to leave or to repair, and allow the animal to show you what the timing is. "There is no right and wrong in this and no harm, no matter what you decide."

The first law — you exist — cannot be undone, so there is no harm in change. The way to transform the situation is to learn to love yourself unconditionally in the same measure the animal loves you, no matter how obnoxious you may get.

This is metaphysical framing for a personal decision; it does not replace veterinary advice, end-of-life counseling, or grief support.

## Cetaceans as a parallel intelligence

Bashar treats dolphins and whales as a separate, parallel intelligence on Earth, not as "animals" in the diminutive sense. In the model, the dolphin and whale hold the same station in the oceans that humans hold on land — "two parallel alien worlds coexisting." The human represents the amalgamation of many archetypal reflections, while each animal holds a specific, unique point of view; losing a species is "digging away a piece of yourself and burying a point of view you can no longer use to understand the totality."

## Cats as a bridge

In one session Bashar makes an unusual symbolic identification: cats are "strongly connected to us […] a link and a bridge to us in many ways. […] It embodies Essassani and humanity; it is itself a symbol of the link — the connection of two forms of consciousness to form a third." The cat, on this view, is a living symbol of the bridge between Earth and the stars. This is presented as symbolic teaching, not as a claim about the literal behavior or nature of every cat.

## Symbiosis is the probable direction

Bashar's civilization does not have "pets" in the Earth sense; animals on Essassani come and go and some choose to stay, which makes them friends and family rather than possessions. There is, he says, "a high degree of probability that you will eventually express that kind of relationship with the animals on your planet," and he reads the many videos of previously hostile species interacting as friends as early evidence that the shift is already under way.

## Practical implications

Treat an animal as an autonomous being, not a prop for human meanings. Symbolic readings are useful, but they do not override the animal's own consciousness, needs, or veterinary care.

Notice what a pet may be reflecting, without blaming the animal or yourself. A reflection is an opportunity to look at what you are running, not a verdict.

For end-of-life decisions, dialogue with the animal and decide from love. This is spiritual framing and does not replace veterinary guidance, pain management, or professional support.

Honor the intelligence of animals on their own terms. A brain that does not process like a human brain is not necessarily less; it may simply be focused in a pure direction.

Take extinction and species loss seriously. Losing a species is losing a point of view All-That-Is uses to understand itself.

## Representative passages

If you do [euthanize] out of love, there will be nothing negative about it whatsoever. The animal understands, and the animal knows its consciousness continues. […] The animal is reflecting to you some of the processes in your own consciousness relating to your willingness to put up with suffering in your own life. […] The way to transform it is to learn to love yourself unconditionally in the same measure the animal loves you unconditionally, no matter how obnoxious you may get.— Bashar, The Wizards Hat (the-wizards-hat#qa-6)

That's actually not a relationship with nature. That's a relationship with normalization. If you had a true relationship with nature, you would all interact with the animals in a much more egalitarian way. […] just because an animal consciousness may use all of its intelligence in a focused way doesn't mean it's less intelligent just because it doesn't think like a human.— Bashar, Animal Consciousness And The Reincarnational Process (animal-consciousness-and-the-reincarnational-process#qa-3)

If one of the themes that you've explored is your predatory nature or being predatory, they are happy to reflect that back to you. But as soon as you become more symbiotic, so do they. Because you see, they don't have the same agendas.— Bashar, Animal Consciousness And The Reincarnational Process (animal-consciousness-and-the-reincarnational-process#qa-5)

We purr. […] Cats are strongly connected to us; they are a link and a bridge to us in many ways. […] It embodies Essassani and humanity; it is itself a symbol of the link — the connection of two forms of consciousness to form a third.— Bashar, Purring (purring#qa-2)
