# Physical Mind

In Bashar's model of the person, the physical mind is one half of a deliberately bifurcated consciousness — the half that has the physical experience. Its partner is the higher mind, the non-physical portion that stands above and guides. The two are not rivals; they are two factors of the personality designed to interact, and a person functions as a whole only when both are doing their own jobs.

## Two factors of one soul

The model is straightforward. An individual soul, choosing to have a physical experience, creates a bifurcation in its consciousness: the non-physical higher mind and the physical mind. Those two working in concert form the whole person having the experience. The bifurcation session's image: the higher mind stands on the mountain top, looking at the terrain; the physical mind walks in the valley below along the path. The higher mind goes "turn left, turn right, no, no, no, don't turn that way, you'll fall into a hole — listen to me." Falling into holes is what happens when the physical mind doesn't pay attention to the higher mind.

The same session frames this in terms of what the life does to the soul. The "unfired clay" of the soul is fired, through living, into the specific "ceramic" of the spirit — the form forever representative of that life. The physical mind and the higher mind working together as one whole person is the firing process.

## The physical mind's job is to experience, not to control

Across the sessions, Bashar is precise about what the physical mind is and is not designed to do. It is the persona, the ego structure having the physical experience. It is not designed to control life, not designed to make things work, not even designed to know how things will actually come to be. Within a limited frame of reference it can be used for pattern recognition and figuring out certain logical ideas. But in terms of how things will actually manifest — what factors will come into place to allow your life to unfold in the way that best represents your natural self — that is what the higher mind is designed to do; the physical mind is not.

The physical mind is designed to experience what the higher mind has manifested and thus to understand what has happened. It operates mostly in the present experience and past tense. When it tries to use past experience to figure out how to create future manifestation, it becomes frustrated and stuck, and often finds that attempting the same thing over and over simply puts it into a rut or a cycle. The relief is not better technique; it is allowing the higher mind to do its job.

The Hawaii-of-the-mind navigation session adds a striking corollary: in a relocation of consciousness, you may allow upwards of 90% of your consciousness to relocate, retaining only some sense of the previous locale in order to function as a control. The control is in the relocation; the ego is being allowed to totally operate without fear and to be the home beacon, the clear objective control point linking you back to physical reality. When you think of the brain simply, within its functional mode, you are having the clearest and most objective description of the physical ego that you can have. The ego's job is to be the home beacon — not the navigator.

## The ego is the focusing function, not the enemy

Two short ego sessions sharpen this further. Letting go of ego is not the same as dissolving it. You need ego to focus you in a physical reality experience; the negative side of ego appears only when it is burdened with things it is not capable of doing, which it then resents and fights back against. Let it do its job of focusing you in a physical reality experience, and it can do that job without turning into negative ego. The personality is a mask you look through to experience physical reality, based on whatever balance of beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors you are creating — and it needs to be in balance with the higher mind to function harmoniously.

The negotiation session phrases the same practice as reassurance. Include the ego in the integration of physical and higher mind. Let it know it has its place, that you love it, that it is valid, that you are not doing anything to get rid of it. You are simply removing a burden from its shoulders and allowing it to relax and enjoy its job of allowing you to be focused in a physical reality and having an experience. Reassurance, not war, is the method — the ego pouts only when it fears being left out.

## Inspiration comes by acting on excitement

The arrangement is completed by how the two halves actually communicate. Acting on your excitement is what makes you a more receptive antenna for the communications from the higher mind, which arrive as inspirations, imaginations, and thoughts representative of your excitement, joy, and creativity. When you are in balance with your higher mind you receive these things automatically; you know that life works automatically and you do not have to make it work. You simply sit and listen and receive an inspiration that will be the next thing you need to act on.

The fear-is-only-a-definition session names the same partnership from the side of what blocks it. Bashar offers to function as a permission-slip mask through which your own higher mind can talk to you — the work is to bring the physical mind and the higher mind into balance so that you can be a whole person, because without that balance you are, in his word, "only half-witted." The painter in that exchange is moved to tears by his own image; the tears are framed as shedding the chemical constituents of negative beliefs out of alignment with the dream, which is exactly the kind of signal the physical mind is built to read.

## Practical implications

Let the physical mind do its job and only its job. It is built to experience what is happening now and to recognize patterns; using it to figure out how the future will manifest is what makes it stuck and frustrated.

Treat excitement as the line of communication. Acting on what excites you, to the best of your ability, increases receptivity to the higher mind's inspirations, which arrive as imagination, thoughts, and creativity.

Stop trying to dissolve the ego. It is the physical-focus tool; its negative expression is overload, not evil. Reassure it of its place and remove from it the burden of doing jobs it was not built for.

Let the ego be the home beacon. In a shift of consciousness, the ego's function is to remain the clear control point that links you back to physical reality — not to plan or navigate the shift itself. Allowing it to operate without fear is what makes that beacon usable.

Read strong emotion and physical signal as data, not as failure. Tears, vulnerability, and fear are treated in these sessions as messages from portions of self the physical mind has not been listening to; letting them in is part of the partnership.

These are metaphysical framings for an inner partnership. They are not medical or psychotherapeutic direction, and they do not instruct a learner to ignore diagnosed conditions or to override professional care. The teaching is about how Bashar says the personality is structured and how a learner can work with that structure rather than against it.

## Representative passages

The higher mind standing on the mountain top, looking at the terrain, the physical mind in the valley below, walking along the path, and the higher mind going, turn left, turn right, no, no, no, don't turn that way, you'll fall into a hole. Listen to me, listen to me.— Bashar, Higher Mind Provides Inspiration To The Physical Mind (higher-mind-provides-inspiration-to-the-physical-mind#qa-1)

Physical mind is not designed to control life. Physical mind is designed to experience what the higher mind has manifested and thus physical mind understands what has happened.— Bashar, Interviewed By Newrealities (interviewed-by-newrealities#qa-2)

You need ego to focus you in a physical reality experience. But the idea is that you don't need the negative side of ego as part of your experience. Ego just needs to be something that is allowed to do its job.— Bashar, Ego Helps You Keep Focus In Your Physical Experience (ego-helps-you-keep-focus-in-your-physical-experience#qa-1)

In a sense, you are assigning a function to the ego — it is being allowed to totally operate without fear and being allowed to be the home beacon.— Bashar, Navigation Limitation (navigation-limitation#qa-5)
