# Positive & Negative Energy

In Bashar's vocabulary, "positive" and "negative" are not subjective judgements of good and bad. They are a literal mechanical description of how energy behaves: the positive integrates, unifies, and expands; the negative segregates, separates, and disconnects. This is the foundation that makes the rest of the teaching — including the relationship between anxiety and excitement — coherent.

## One energy, two experiences

The physics is exact: you have one energy, you are 100% of it — not 95, not 110. That energy is flowed through, filtered through, the definitions and beliefs you hold as true. When you flow that same energy through a negative belief (one out of alignment with your true, positively oriented core), it is experienced physically as anxiety and fear; when you flow the identical energy through a positive belief, it is experienced by the polarity you call excitement, joy, and love. Anxiety and excitement are therefore not different energies but the same energy filtered differently — which is why a state like anxiety is not something to get rid of, but a signal showing you that an unconscious definition is out of alignment with your core.

Because the difference is the filter, not the fuel, changing the belief flips the polarity of the very same energy. Once you identify the unconscious belief as something you picked up along the way from family, friends, or society — something that belongs to someone else and now appears nonsensical next to who you actually know yourself to be — and drop it, the energy that was being filtered through the negative belief now filters through the positive side and transforms from anxiety into excitement. The work is to make the unconscious belief conscious; if it remains unconscious you cannot work with it.

## Neutral circumstances, assigned meaning

The same logic applies at the level of circumstance. No situation has built-in meaning; all physical situations are fundamentally neutral props. The meaning you give them determines the effect you get out of them. So a perceived negative situation is not inherently negative — it becomes negative through the definition you impose on it, and that definition is where the leverage is.

This reframes disruptions as well. Asked about an unwanted event like a traffic jam, Bashar offers what he calls the "two-word meditation": so what? You do not know that being allowed to zoom down the freeway would not have led to a collision, or that someone in another car is not looking over at you stuck in traffic, smiling and singing, and being brightened by it. Stop trying to know what everything is for and you will have a much happier life. The point is not denial but the release of the assumption that an unwanted disruption is inherently harmful or meaningless.

## Practical implications

Bashar's positive/negative distinction is metaphysical framing, not a medical or psychological protocol, and it explicitly does not replace treatment for anxiety, trauma, or any clinical condition. As a teaching, it offers a specific practical lever: when anxiety or a "negative" experience arises, treat it as a signal rather than an enemy, and ask the operational question — what would I have to believe is true about myself in this situation in order to be having this experience? Letting an answer arrive (through synchronicity, meditation, or honest self-inquiry), recognizing the belief as borrowed rather than native, and dropping it allows the same energy to flow through the positive side and be felt as excitement.

A second lever concerns circumstances rather than beliefs: because situations are neutral props, the assignment of meaning is where the effect is produced. This means a learner can practice suspending the automatic negative interpretation of a disruption, acknowledging the manifestation as something they created, asking what belief produced it, and using what is there to change it into what they prefer.

The same teaching warns against assuming you always know what an event is for; remaining open to an unknown positive function (or to never knowing) is part of the practice, and Bashar is explicit that you may never know — and that this is acceptable.

## Representative passages

You have one energy. You are a 100% energy. … Your energy is flowed through, filtered through, the definitions that you hold on to as true. … negative energy is separate, segregated, disconnected, and positive energy is integrated, expansive. So if you're flowing your energy through the filter that is dominated by a negatively oriented belief … your energy will be experienced physically in the form you call anxiety, fears. If you thus then flow that energy through positive belief, it will be experienced by the polarity you call excitement, joy, and love.— Bashar, The Physics Of Energy As It Applies To Inspiration And Creativity (the-physics-of-energy-as-it-applies-to-inspiration-and-creativity#qa-1)

My anxiety is showing me, is reflecting to me, is making it conscious within me, that I have an unconscious definition, an unconscious belief that's out of alignment with who I actually prefer to be. … once you change it and drop it and let it go, that energy that you were filtering through the negative belief will now filter through the positive side and you will have transformed your energy from the experience of anxiety to the experience of excitement.— Bashar, The Physics Of Energy As It Applies To Inspiration And Creativity (the-physics-of-energy-as-it-applies-to-inspiration-and-creativity#qa-2)

No situation has built-in meaning. All physical situations are fundamentally neutral. The meaning you give them determines the effect you get out.— Bashar, Keeping A Positive State In A Perceived Negative Situation (keeping-a-positive-state-in-a-perceived-negative-situation#qa-1)

Most of you need to learn the power of the two-word meditation: so what? … stop trying to know what everything is for and you will have a much happier life.— Bashar, Difficulties Happen To Teach You Or Serve You In A Positive Way (difficulties-happen-to-teach-you-or-serve-you-in-a-positive-way#qa-2)
