# Reincarnation

Reincarnation, in Bashar's teaching, is the experience of consciousness projecting itself into many physical personality constructs along a linear time track. The appearance of one life following another is a property of the time track itself, not a fact about consciousness: outside of physical reality, where there is no linear time, all incarnations are simultaneous, and what you call a past or future life is simply another portion of the same oversoul viewed through the lens of linear time.

## The oversoul model — simultaneous, not sequential

Bashar's framing begins by reframing the word itself. The very term "reincarnation" is misleading, because nothing literally re-enters a body and no consciousness becomes a different version of itself. Each life is its own discrete, distinct person, coexisting at the same time as every other life, and all of them are simultaneous extensions of the same oversoul. As he puts it directly: "There is no such thing exactly, literally, as re-incarnation. It is multiple simultaneous incarnations all existing at the same time. So you are always you. You never become another version. Another version, another life is them — but you both coexist and are connected to the same what might euphemistically be called oversoul."

The oversoul, in this model, "will represent a greater fragmentation of all that is, but it itself will have the fragmentations of all the various physical lives that you perceive yourselves to be."

One oversoul may even split off and become another soul, so that individuals in one reincarnational cycle can have more than one oversoul; these connections are arbitrary, products of labelling and perspective, meaningful as exploratory tools but ultimately meaningless on the level where all is one consciousness.

What is fundamental is not the lineage of souls but the present-time fact that each facet of consciousness is permanent, necessary, and eternally itself — one thing cannot become another without losing that facet, which All-That-Is requires in order to be complete.

## Why the linear appearance exists at all

Bashar traces the cycle to a choice made deep in planetary history. As spirit continued to project into material form, it became fascinated with limitation — so enmeshed in the energy fields of the Earth that it created a habit of expressing itself through emotionality, thought, and belief rather than knowingness. The separation became so complete that beings locked themselves out of their own knowingness and into the immediate rings and cycles of energy surrounding the planet, "and thus they created for themselves, for yourselves, the idea of the reincarnational path."

The cycle is therefore not a cosmic sentence imposed from outside; it is a self-created pattern born of fascination with limitation — the same fascination that makes Earth, in Bashar's phrase, a school for masters of limitation rather than a kindergarten.

What you experience as sequential rebirth is the time-track view of what is, on the outside, a simultaneous field. The definition is precise: "Reincarnation will again simply be the idea of being many lives, many physiological personality constructs in a linear time track, whereas outside of the time track, reincarnation is — or I'll say all incarnations — are simultaneous."

This is why a "past life" memory is better understood as a cross-connection made now, in the present, to another simultaneously existing life — drawing information you need in this life even as, from that life's perspective, it is doing the same with you.

## Karma as self-imposed momentum, not judgment

The same simultaneity reframes karma. In Bashar's lexicon, "karma is simply an expression of momentum in a particular direction with regard to what the higher self or oversoul wishes to experience of itself. All karma is self-imposed. It is not judgment. It is the recognition of a balance, the recognition of an idea that is being lived out, that is being experienced. And the choosing of situations that will allow for that experience to occur in physical reality."

There is no external ledger and no debt to be paid; what feels like karmic recurrence is the present pattern through which simultaneous lives appear as a connected linear past and future. Changing the present pattern changes the connected experience.

This also dissolves the question of whether animals, or any other form of consciousness, reincarnate as humans. They do not — not because they are lesser, but because each facet is eternally itself. Animal consciousness "does not reincarnate as humans, per se … everything that exists already as its own unique expression of creation. And in that sense, the idea of a linear incarnation or an evolution through incarnation to some degree is an illusion."

The same teaching applies to any belief that one form evolves into another through sequential lives: the experience can be created as if it does, but it does not work that way mechanically.

## The transformational life

A "transformational life" — the kind Bashar says many on Earth are now living — is one in which many ideas focusing from many different alternate time tracks and oversoul selves are brought together in a single physical life.

After what may amount to hundreds or thousands of incarnations in a forgetting plane, you arrive at a place where you begin to remember who you are, drawing on the richness of all those simultaneous experiences to make this life more representative of the kind of reality you prefer.

The re-acknowledgment of the connection between physicality and the non-physical, and the conscious choice to realign the reincarnational path with the knowing self, is part of what the transformational era is.

Because all incarnations are simultaneous, you are never trapped in a cycle you did not choose. Bashar's test is direct and physical: if you can lie down, close your eyes, and mean "I am done with this life," you leave; if you can open your eyes again, you are not done — and the very fact that you can open them proves there is something here you are still excited to explore.

You are always in control; even physical death is a choice point at which you may continue the physical life in a parallel reality or move on. The cycle of reincarnation continues only for as long as it serves your exploration.

## Practical implications

Treat "past life" material as present-time information. A cross-connection to another life is made from the present, for a present purpose — it brings through whatever you need now. Chasing the historical identity of the life, or treating it as a fixed story about who you were, is usually slower than simply using the information it delivers.

Release the frame of karmic debt. If karma is self-imposed momentum rather than judgment, then the work is to recognize the idea being lived out and choose situations that allow a new balance — not to repay a sentence imposed from outside.

When a "past life" feels charged, ask what present theme it is illuminating. Bashar's guidance is that many ideas you call past lives can act as symbology, allowing you to focus on the ideas you are exploring in the present; "there does not have to be any further connection than that."

Do not flatten one form of consciousness into another. Each facet of creation is permanent and necessary; the work is to recognize the unique expression of each — animal, human, or otherwise — rather than to rank them on an evolutionary ladder.

If you are still here, you chose to be. Bashar's instruction is to trust that your life will show you what you wanted to be here for; you are never done by accident.

## Representative passages

There is no such thing exactly, literally, as re-incarnation. It is multiple simultaneous incarnations all existing at the same time. So you are always you. You never become another version. Another version, another life is them — but you both coexist and are connected to the same what might euphemistically be called oversoul. Each of those lives is a simultaneously coexisting extension of the same oversoul.— Bashar, Youre Not Done (youre-not-done#text)

The idea, of course, again, is that everything exists simultaneously. So even the term reincarnation is misleading. Whatever is a thing is that thing. There can be interconnections. There can be energetic linkages. There can be experiential continuity connections that can make different levels of consciousness seem to evolve from one to another. But everything that exists already as its unique expression of creation. And in that sense, the idea of a linear incarnation or an evolution through incarnation to some degree is an illusion.— Bashar, Animal Consciousness And The Reincarnational Process (animal-consciousness-and-the-reincarnational-process#qa-1)

Reincarnation will again simply be the idea of being many lives, many physiological personality constructs in a linear time track, whereas outside of the time track, reincarnation is — or I'll say all incarnations — are simultaneous.— Bashar, New Metaphysics Definitions (new-metaphysics-definitions#text)

Each facet is unique, and each facet needs to be there. One thing cannot become another, or you lose that facet. That facet is needed for all that is to be, all that is.— Bashar, Animal Consciousness And The Reincarnational Process (animal-consciousness-and-the-reincarnational-process#qa-2)
