# Science Of The Obvious

"Science of the obvious" is Bashar's name for the natural faculty of seeing the underlying structure of existence directly and then letting every experience be compared to it, so that what aligns is recognized while misconceptions and mythologies fall away. The teaching is developed most fully across two sessions: a laboratory class that builds the principle step by step from first axioms, and a shorter reflection where the same principle dissolves a feared symbol. The name itself comes from how the conclusion lands once the structure is seen — "duh" — because the answer was self-evident all along; the work is not to invent the answer but to drop the assumptions that were hiding it.

## What the name points at

The shorter session gives the cleanest definition in Bashar's own shorthand: when a reflection makes the structure visible at once, the response is "It's so obvious. That's why we call it the science of the obvious. Or to put it in earth terms, duh."

The point of the name is not a humility joke; it is a claim that the structure of existence is directly perceivable, and that once it is seen, the conclusion is self-evident rather than derived. Bashar continues: when you understand the nature of the structure of existence and can learn to see the structure clearly, all the misconceptions and mythologies fall away and you are left with the bare-bones understanding of what the mechanism is reflecting to you.

## The method: start from one, read everything else from there

The laboratory session lays out the method. The first principle is that everything is literally made of one thing — the prime radiant, a single particle moving at infinite speed — so oneness is literal physics, not only spirituality.

From that first principle, Bashar reads off the rest as simple extrapolation: because you are an aware piece of the whole, intelligence and awareness are qualities of the whole (the ice-cube argument: every shard of a smashed ice cube is still ice).

Because you can conceive of both infinity and the finite, both must be real, and the finite is contained within the infinite; All That Is is not subject to time, beginnings, endings, or boundaries.

The session names this method directly: "This is part and parcel of what we in our civilization call the science of the obvious. Let it be obvious. There really is no mystery here when you keep it very simple."

The phrase "let it be obvious" is the operative instruction. Once the first principle is granted, later conclusions are not added on; they are read off. Reincarnation, for example, is reinterpreted as simultaneous lives because if everything is one and only exists now, "the only logical interpretation of the concept of reincarnation is that all the lives exist now. It's a simple, logical, obvious extrapolation. One builds to the other. One leads to the other. This is the science of the obvious."

## The dissolving of fear and mythology

The same faculty dissolves a feared symbol in the symbology session. A feared killer whale carries its fear only from the definitions placed on it; the false killer whale reflects that the fear is false — not who you truly are. When the structure is seen clearly, the misconceptions and mythologies around the symbol fall away and leave the bare bones of what the mechanism is reflecting.

The teaching unifies two moves: see the structure (definitions create the appearance), and apply it to the specific case (the fear is therefore false).

This is continuous with Bashar's broader theme that circumstances are neutral until you assign them meaning. The science of the obvious is the discipline of comparing every experience to the structure of existence and letting that comparison do the interpretive work, instead of overlaying mythology.

## Practical implications

Practice reading experience from first principles rather than from accumulated mythology. Bashar's instruction "let it be obvious" is a discipline of starting from what is self-evident (you are aware; you can conceive of infinity; only the now is provable) and refusing to add layers that the first principles do not require.

When a symbol or circumstance frightens you, examine the definition that makes it look frightening. The symbology session models this directly: the feared killer whale carries its fear only from the definitions placed on it, and the false killer whale shows the fear is false.

Use the structure of existence as a reference rather than adding new metaphysical claims. Once oneness and the now are granted, later ideas (simultaneous lives, total change, the primacy of definitions) are read as extrapolations, not as separate doctrines.

Notice that the method respects simple logic: if both infinity and the finite can be conceived, both must be real, and the finite is contained within the infinite. This is offered as the kind of clear thinking the science of the obvious trains, not as a substitute for empirical inquiry.

Distinguish Bashar's metaphysical framing from verified observation. The prime radiant and the ice-cube holism are presented as conceptual lenses through which to read experience; they are not offered as measured physics.

## Representative passages

It's so obvious. That's why we call it the science of the obvious. Or to put it in earth terms, duh. [...] Again, when you understand the nature of the structure of existence and can learn to see the structure clearly, all the misconceptions and mythologies will fall away and you will be left with the bare bones understanding of what the mechanism is reflecting to you.— Bashar, Symbology Of False Killer Whales Fear In Life Is False (symbology-of-false-killer-whales-fear-in-life-is-false#text)

This is part and parcel of what we in our civilization call the science of the obvious. Let it be obvious. There really is no mystery here when you keep it very simple. When you understand the concept of holism, when you understand the concept that everything is actually truly made out of the same one thing, many other things we have talked about [...] many other concepts that may at first seem mysterious, are suddenly very obvious when you base them on the first understanding that everything is one thing.— Bashar, Bashar's Lab (s-lab#text)

This is the science of the obvious, and why certain things from our perspective are simply, clearly obvious. Because we understand the first principle is so, we understand how all the other concepts must exist in order to fit the first principle.— Bashar, Bashar's Lab (s-lab#text)
