# The Seven Senses

Bashar presents a sensory model in which you have seven physical senses — plus an eighth transcendental one — rather than the conventional five. The framing matters as much as the count: what you call "extra-sensory" is, in his account, simply sensory. "It is not supernatural. It is not paranormal. It is not even metaphysical. Your senses exist in a certain format and are capable of perceiving many things."monologue-bashar20#text

## The enumeration: five familiar, plus orientation and vibrational discernment

When asked directly how many senses we have, Bashar names seven physical senses and one transcendental one. "The five you know are sight, sound, taste, smell, touch. The sixth is orientation — spatial orientation centered physiologically in your sinus cavities and hinged upon a substance called magnetite, with which the animals navigate and have their homing instinct. The seventh is what you usually call your sixth sense: vibrational discernment — everything in physical reality is a matter of a vibratory frequency, and your cellular structure is very sensitive to it; the glandular structures, especially the pineal gland, let you extrapolate those waves into an emotional reaction or feeling." He adds the eighth as a different order of knowing: "Your eighth sense, the transcendental one, is simply the state of knowingness — times when you simply know something to be so, without any physiological connection, seeing the scenario as one complete picture.

Two physiological loci anchor the model: magnetite in the sinus cavities for orientation, and the pineal gland for translating vibration into felt experience. The conventional "sixth sense" is, in this mapping, the seventh physical sense — vibrational discernment — and is given a specific biological channel rather than treated as a vague intuition.

## Senses as filters, not windows

Bashar reverses the usual assumption that the senses let reality in. "Many of you think what you call your physical senses is what lets your reality in. No. Your physical senses is what keeps most of it out. Your physical senses are not perceivers as much as they are filters. The only things you will see at any time will be what you believe most strongly is the most likely thing you will see.

The function of the senses, in this account, is to focus consciousness into a usable band by excluding most of what exists — not by capturing all of it.

This is presented as freeing rather than diminishing: if the senses are filters, you can examine which beliefs are selecting what gets through, and choose differently. Bashar attaches this to the broader neutrality of situations: "None of these situations has built-in meaning. No situation means anything... The meaning you automatically give them through what you have been taught to give them is the effect they have in your life.

## Expanded senses are the same spectrum, not new additions

Bashar is explicit that expanded capacities are not new faculties — they are the always-present extension of the existing spectrum, revealed when self-imposed filters relax. "We said that you already have had these senses that you are calling new senses. You have placed these filters and limitations upon yourself for a variety of reasons... The spectrum has always been there; you have restricted yourself to what you call the visible spectrum. Now you will allow yourself to relax those filters so that you can realize you have always had the ability to experience the so-called invisible spectrum as well, and what was heretofore invisible will become visible to you when you relax those filters.

Asked for examples beyond intuition and aura-seeing, he names the sense of space and time itself becoming sensory: "You will actually begin to sense space and time in a very different way. Many things that heretofore you did not necessarily have a way to describe, you will begin to experience and will have to invent new words for. You can have a sense of space and time beyond what you understand now; it can become more visceral, more tangible to you. It even has a taste, a smell, a color, a sound.

## The third eye as the seat of self-understanding

In a session on consciousness and paradox, Bashar locates the third eye deep within, as a seat of understanding rather than a single chakra. "It is deep within you — the seat of the original idea behind what you have come to term the third eye. It corresponds to every system you exhibit; it is your seat of understanding, especially understanding yourself. That opening used to be called, a long time ago, God's pupil. It is your direct link to mass awareness. It is your direct link to God — that is, your direct link to you.

The phrase "God's pupil" ties the third eye to the same principle found elsewhere in the corpus — that what looks like a bridge to something external is actually a link to a deeper layer of the self.

## How sensory capacity expands

When asked what can be done now to develop the senses, Bashar's answer is the same formula he applies to accelerating anything in physical reality: act on excitement. "By acting on your highest joy every moment that you can, taking it as far as you can, and with zero expectation as to where it is going to take you, you will constantly be following the compass needle that points to your true magnetic north, and constantly raising your vibratory frequency and thus constantly expanding your ability to sense whatever it is you are capable of sensing.

The expansion is treated as an automatic consequence of raising frequency, not as a separate discipline.

For specifically psychic capacities like remote viewing, he similarly frames them as growing automatically with overall expansion: "those kinds of things, to some degree, are almost automatically grown when you do expand on every level. In other words, when you truly allow yourself to be free on a physical level, you will automatically find yourself being what you call more psychic.

He adds a caution about clarity: information takes the path of least resistance, and what looks like a failed reading may be a different, better-tuned delivery.

## Practical implications

The transcripts support several practical stances for a learner:

Drop the "extra" framing. Treating expanded perception as supernatural or paranormal reinforces the belief that it requires something beyond normal capability; treating it as natural sensory perception removes that hidden limitation.monologue-bashar20#text

Notice the filter function. If your senses show you what you most strongly believe is likely, working with attention and belief is working with perception itself.

Use excitement as the expansion method. Acting on your highest excitement, as far as you can, with zero expectation of outcome, is presented as the single accelerator that applies to sensory capacity as much as to anything else.

Allow new language. As filters relax, experience can outpace existing vocabulary; inventing words is part of permitting the perception.

Read apparent failures of psychic perception differently. When the expected form does not arrive, something else may be working — often serving the whole situation better than the form you insisted on.

## Representative passages

You have seven physical senses and one transcendental one, making eight. The five you know are sight, sound, taste, smell, touch. The sixth is orientation — spatial orientation centered physiologically in your sinus cavities and hinged upon a substance called magnetite, with which the animals navigate and have their homing instinct. The seventh is what you usually call your sixth sense: vibrational discernment — everything in physical reality is a matter of a vibratory frequency, and your cellular structure is very sensitive to it.— Bashar, Re create Your Reality (re-create-your-reality#qa-2)

Your physical senses is what keeps most of it out. Your physical senses are not perceivers as much as they are filters. The only things you will see at any time will be what you believe most strongly is the most likely thing you will see.— Bashar, Unfoldment Of Personality (unfoldment-of-personality#qa-6)

The spectrum has always been there; you have restricted yourself to what you call the visible spectrum. Now you will allow yourself to relax those filters so that you can realize you have always had the ability to experience the so-called invisible spectrum as well, and what was heretofore invisible will become visible to you when you relax those filters.— Bashar, Releasing Filters And Limitations To Expand The Senses (releasing-filters-and-limitations-to-expand-the-senses#qa-1)
