# Shape-Shifting & Screen Memories

Shape-shifting, as Bashar describes it, is not a literal change of molecular structure. It is an alteration of how a being is perceived — a resonance of perception that projects a different appearance into the observer's reality bubble. The same principle is used to explain the "screen memories" reported in encounter literature: a being causes a witness to see something familiar rather than what is actually there. In both cases form is treated as a vibrational appearance, not a fixed property.

## The mechanism: a reality bubble of perception, not a change of molecules

The clearest explanation comes from Cryptic s Shapeshifting Creating Bubble Realities, where a cryptic (a hybrid being) describes how shapeshifting works for them. "It isn't the idea that our actual molecular structure shifts like that. It's the idea of a resonance vibration of perception, that we are creating a reality bubble in which we are perceived as a fox. Our consciousness can express itself that way."

Physical reality is presented as a projection — "just a resonance. It's just a frequency. It's just a bubble reality idea" — so altering the projected appearance is not the same as becoming another creature.

This places shape-shifting in the same family as Bashar's broader teaching on parallel realities and perception: you do not move through a fixed external world, you shift through frames, and what you perceive is the frame you are vibrationally tuned to. A being who can shape-shift is simply fluent in tuning the bubble that others perceive them within.

## Relevance governs the shift

Across these transcripts Bashar emphasises that shapeshifting is not random or whimsical. Asked whether cryptics can become "a bear or a fish," the answer is, "They can, but it will depend upon the relevance. When they shift into those shapes, they are not actually the same thing as being a bear; it is simply the idea that they can manipulate that energy, that appearance, in such a way as to appear that way."

When asked whether the same shape recurs, the cryptic in Cryptic s Shapeshifting replies, "When we need to, when it's relevant. When it's relevant. When it serves."

Relevance here is doing real work in the teaching. It means shape-shifting is governed by situational appropriateness rather than by preference for spectacle. A cryptic does not cycle through shapes for display; the shift occurs when the situation calls for it. This is consistent with the wider framing in these sessions that the cryptics (whom Bashar describes as 33 hybrid beings, a mix of male, female, and neither, present on Earth across a span of some 700 years) are differentiated from humans rather than ranked above them.

## Default forms and the meaning of "shifting through parallel realities through themselves"

Bashar locates shape-shifting inside the larger parallel-realities framework: cryptics have "the ability, or the effect would appear as if they can also shift parallel realities through themselves, changing their form, changing their shape."

The phrasing matters. He is not saying their bodies morph; he is saying they shift the parallel reality their observer is tracking by way of their own form. The result is a "default position" that for some cryptics "look[s] nothing like you" — a non-human baseline appearance.

Default forms are described in some detail. Willa's mentor Holly Cotton is "relatively slender … more similar to our kind in the sense of being a hybrid being," with long straight white hair, very light crystal-blue eyes, and skin that shifts gently over time from light to dark to medium with other colors in the sheen; "when she wishes to, she can appear as a white crow, a white raven."

Sage Primrose, nicknamed "Rusty," "often takes on the actual coloration of the red rocks, and you cannot see that the being is there."

These descriptions are presented as Bashar's claims about specific beings, not as independently verifiable observation.

## Kinship with — and difference from — screen memories

Bashar explicitly connects shape-shifting to the screen-memory phenomenon reported in encounters. The talent is "similar to … what has been reported in many encounters on your planet, where certain beings make you think you are seeing something other than what they are — what you call screen memories. It is a similar talent, a similar skill, but not created in the same way; it is vibrational connected to that ability."

The distinction matters because screen memories, in Bashar's account, are often used by beings to "allay your fears … to give you something a little bit more familiar to look at, something that you're used to."

In Each Parallel Earth Has Its Own History And Timeline, a questioner describes a "blonde woman with blue eyes" who shifted in their perception into a grey-like figure with long fingers. Bashar identifies this as a screen-memory projection that the questioner began to see through: "you allowed yourself … to look through, and look past the screen memory, to see the truth of it behind the mirror, behind the smoke."

So the relationship is: shape-shifting and screen-memory projection use a related vibrational mechanism (altering the perception of form), but they are not produced identically, and they serve different functions. One is the being's expression of its own fluent identity; the other is a buffer placed in front of a witness. Both depend on the perceiver, and both can be seen through when the perceiver's vibration shifts.

## Practical implications

Treat form as appearance, not as fixed essence. Bashar's framing makes physical form a projection — a resonance rather than a hard object. The practical correlate for the learner is that perception and felt state co-vary: change the state and the apparent form of the situation changes.

Notice when a "screen memory" is at work in ordinary life. Bashar treats the screen-memory mechanism as a general feature of perception, not only as an encounter phenomenon. Noticing the familiar image a person has placed in front of a harder truth is presented as itself a vibrational upgrade.

Let relevance, not display, govern expression. The cryptics shift "when it's relevant. When it serves." The principle offered to a learner is the same: express a chosen state when it is actually appropriate, not as performance.

Read these accounts as claims, not as verified observation. Shape-shifting and screen memories are presented here as Bashar's metaphysical teaching, not as scientifically established phenomena; nothing in this chapter should be read as confirmation that any specific being has altered another person's memory.

## Representative passages

It isn't the idea that our actual molecular structure shifts like that. It's the idea of a resonance vibration of perception, that we are creating a reality bubble in which we are perceived as a fox. … Everything in physical reality is just a projection. It's just a resonance. It's just a frequency. It's just a bubble reality idea.— Bashar, Cryptic s Shapeshifting Creating Bubble Realities (cryptic-s-shapeshifting-creating-bubble-realities#qa-1)

They can, but it will depend upon the relevance. When they shift into those shapes, they are not actually the same thing as being a bear; it is simply the idea that they can manipulate that energy, that appearance, in such a way as to appear that way. … It is a similar talent, a similar skill, but not created in the same way; it is vibrational connected to that ability.— Bashar, Transfering Energetic Template Patterns For Hybrids (transfering-energetic-template-patterns-for-hybrids#qa-3)

They project an idea, similar to the idea that we were just discussing about shape-shifting, to allow you to allay your fears, to allay your concerns, to give you something a little bit more familiar to look at, something that you're used to.— Bashar, Each Parallel Earth Has Its Own History And Timeline (each-parallel-earth-has-its-own-history-and-timeline#text)
