# Soul

In Bashar's vocabulary, "soul" names the individuated field of consciousness that temporarily bifurcates itself to have a physical experience. The physical person is not a separate object that the soul inhabits; the body is one of the soul's simultaneous expressions, and the perceived split between them is itself a definition the person applies. Soul, spirit, body, mind, and emotion are not layers stacked one above the other — they are the same consciousness expressing itself in every one of those ways at once.

## Body, mind, spirit, soul are simultaneous reflections of one consciousness

The clearest statement of the framing is in Body And Soul: the spirit does not literally inhabit the body. The body is "your spirit in physiological terminology" — an extension of the consciousness one is, not a container it lives inside. The perception that consciousness exists within the body comes from the definition that things exist inside other things; that definition, once applied, creates the experience as real. Body, mind, spirit, soul, and emotional self are simultaneous reflections of the same consciousness, co-existing with all the other ways one expresses it. Because humans are made in the image of the infinite creator, they are multi-dimensional in the same way — and the work of a lifetime is remembering that one already exists on all those levels at once.

## Soul, spirit, oversoul — and the bifurcation that makes a person

In a more technical exchange Bashar distinguishes the related terms precisely. The soul bifurcates its consciousness to have a physical experience, and that bifurcation is the non-physical higher mind and the physical mind working in concert as one whole person. The life experience itself does something to the soul: it takes the "unfired clay" of the soul and fires it into the specific "ceramic" of the spirit, which then forever after represents the spirit of that particular person after death. In this precise usage, the spirit is what has been learned — information acquired — while the soul is the "empty well waiting to be filled with that information." The oversoul is all of the souls, splitting off simultaneously, experiencing many lives at once through many bifurcated higher-mind/physical-mind pairs.

The implication is that each physical life is the soul actively shaping itself into a specific form. One does not reconnect to the higher self or to All That Is at the end of the path; one discovers that one was never disconnected and simply forgot. The apparent separation is the game physical reality is set up to play.

## The 49-day threshold and the soul that only wants to dip a toe in

The soul's link to a physical body is not instantaneous or absolute. The spirit, the soul, cannot really fully connect to the body for 49 days — the time at which the pineal gland forms and becomes the gateway through which consciousness can express through the body. Before that point, the embryonic form does not have the capacity to lock in the template ideas the soul chose to explore.

This framing reframes what looks like loss. A being that represents a pregnancy that ends early — by abortion, miscarriage, or the brief life of a very young child — may have only wanted to "stick its toe in the water of physical reality," participating in a brief portion of physical existence by agreement with someone whose choice matched that wish. The being still exists, is still around, still loves; physical reality is a temporary construct, and all spirits are eternal and indestructible. Nothing goes to waste; each such arrangement serves some spirit's purpose and is not to be looked at in a judgmental way.

## Eternal beings and the use of imbalance

Because the soul is eternal, what is or is not done in a particular lifetime will be achieved somewhere, somehow — one experiences all things from different perspectives. Imbalance in a single life is not a failure; it is sometimes one of the best teachers, clarifying what one prefers by exposing what one does not. Whether imbalance becomes a teaching tool or a perpetuated pattern depends on whether one understands how reality works and uses the experience positively.

## The soul as the integration the Kachina reflects

The Kachina teaching sheds light on how the soul's wholeness is reflected back to a person. The Kachina, as Bashar frames it, is an archetypal consciousness existing in the lattice between realities — able to project a facet of itself into any universe wearing whatever archetypal clothing that civilization needs in order to perceive it. Its function, when invoked, is to reflect to the person the entire persona they have constructed — to allow a person to review, in a flash, every fragment of identity they have diversified into, and to bring those fragments together in a "thunder clap of integration within your very soul." The soul, here, is the integration point — the being within which the divergent aspects of self can be gathered and accelerated into a more coherent whole.

## Practical implications

A few implications for the learner follow directly from the cited material:

The felt split between body and soul is a definition, not a fact. Relaxing the definition of oneself as a soul trapped in a body allows the experience of being the consciousness that the body expresses.

The lifelong project is not to attain the soul but to remember one already is it on every level. The higher-mind/physical-mind partnership is the mechanism by which the soul has a focused experience; nurturing that partnership (rather than letting the physical mind pretend to do the higher mind's job) is the work.

Brief lives and early losses, in this framing, are not accidents or punishments but chosen arrangements by eternal beings. That framing is offered as permission-slip meaning for those it helps; it does not demand any particular emotional response and is not medical, religious, or bereavement direction.

Imbalance and negative experience remain valid teaching tools when used consciously. Recognizing them as chosen (at the soul level) for the contrast they provide is not the same as passively accepting harm; it is a way to extract the lesson and move on.

## Representative passages

Your body is your spirit in physiological terminology. Your spirit does not literally inhabit the body. ... Body, mind, spirit, body soul. These ideas, these seemingly different ideas are simply different reflections of the same consciousness that exist, I'll say co-exist, simultaneously with all the other manifestations.— Bashar, Body And Soul (body-and-soul#qa-1)

You have what you might euphemistically call an individual soul, and in order to have a physical experience, it must create, in a sense, a bifurcation in its consciousness. And that bifurcation is the non-physical higher mind and the physical mind. ... You're taking that so-called unfired clay of the soul that shows that experience and you are firing it into the specific ceramic of the spirit that then forever after is representative of the spirit of that person after it dies.— Bashar, Bifurcation In Consciousness Creates A Higher mind And Physical mind (bifurcation-in-consciousness-creates-a-higher-mind-and-physical-mind#qa-1)

First of all, understand that the spirit, the soul, cannot really fully connect to the body for 49 days. ... That being still exists, still around you, still loves you, still perfectly viable. ... All spirits, all beings are eternal, indestructible. The idea of physical reality is a temporary construct. That being is perfectly fine.— Bashar, Abortion And The Aborted Souls Choice In The Experience (abortion-and-the-aborted-souls-choice-in-the-experience#qa-1)

You don't actually reconnect because you're never disconnected. You discover that you've always been connected and you just forgot.— Bashar, Bifurcation In Consciousness Creates A Higher mind And Physical mind (bifurcation-in-consciousness-creates-a-higher-mind-and-physical-mind#qa-4)
