His civilization's spacecraft relocate by changing an object's locational frequency variable — the same mechanism by which consciousness shifts through static, simultaneously-existing parallel realities. The ship does not cross the distance between two points; it stops being at the origin and starts being at the destination, with the experience of continuity created by the passenger's own consciousness. ## Location is a property of the object, not a place the object is in The teaching rests on a precise metaphysical claim: location is not something an object exists in — location is one of the variables that defines the object. Change the variable and the object must, by definition, cease to exist at the first location and take up residence at the new one.
