Just as a glass prism takes in a single beam of white light and fans it out into separate colored rays, this threshold takes in the jumble of human vibrations present at the crossing and begins to diverge them into distinct, ever-more-separated parallel Earth realities. The prism is not a cataclysm or a single event — it is an analogy for a structural process already underway, in which the once-adjacent tracks of collective experience pull apart until each person can only perceive the reality that matches their own vibration. ## What the prism actually is Bashar locates the prism inside a specific five-year window he calls "the span": You are heading through this time frame that we have called the span of five years from 2010 to 2015, with 2012 in the center, toward what we call a vibrational splitting prism. Before the threshold all the tracks are side by side in the station, so jumping between realities is easy and the differences between them feel small. After the trains leave the station the tracks fan out and keep diverging: It's like a train station. When all the trains are in the station, all the tracks are side by side, right next to one another. Each track represents a different idea, a different vibration, a different reality experience, but they're all very close, and it's easy to jump from one train to another. But when the trains all leave the station, all the tracks start to split, start to diverge, become farther and farther and farther and farther apart, going to different destinations. It becomes less likely as they get farther and farther apart that you can jump from one train to another. The tracks are pulling apart precisely so that each vibration can have the reality that matches it without having to convert anyone else. ## What diverges, and what stays A core feature of the prism teaching is that divergence does not eliminate the realities a person is no longer on. Those Earths continue, populated by the people whose vibration matches them. Bashar is blunt that some of those divergent Earths have already destroyed themselves in nuclear war and are still real — they are simply not the Earth you have chosen to experience: There are already Earths that have destroyed themselves with nuclear war. Those still exist. But that's not the reality that you have chosen. Shift to the one you prefer. They're all real. Shift to the one you prefer." This is why the practical instruction is never to "fix the old world." The old systems are not destroyed by the prism — they are left to continue on their own divergent track. The work is to build the new systems that represent the reality you prefer and let the old world go its own way, because the focus of your vibration is what determines which track you ride. ## The prism and the 2012 tipping of the scales Bashar ties the prism to a specific collective-energy reading: the 2012 winter-solstice date is the "tipping of the scales" at which humanity's collective vibration crossed from slightly-more-negative-than-positive to slightly-more-positive-than-negative. Positive energy is integrative, collective, unifying, and accelerative, so once the scales tip, the positive vibration snowballs and becomes more available to more people. The prism is the structural counterpart to that energetic tipping: it is the moment the diverging tracks leave the station and the snowballing positive track begins to pull away from the segregative negative tracks for good. The prism is also repeatedly connected to the open-contact timeline. Because the prism sorts humanity onto different Earths, the question of when open contact happens is really the question of which Earth you shift yourself onto.
