# Telepathy & Psychic Functioning > Telepathy and psychic functioning are presented as natural extensions of communication between higher mind and physical mind rather than paranormal abilities or supernatural powers. - Canonical: https://sassani.app/topic/telepathy # Telepathy & Psychic Functioning Telepathy, in Bashar's teaching, is not the literal reading of another being's mind. It is emotionally activated identification: the more you identify with a being, the more you mirror its frequency, and so you generate the same type of thought at the same time. This is why unconditional love is the prime vibration that lets a society know itself psychically, and why lovers so often appear to read each other's thoughts — they are not actually receiving each other's thoughts, they are being such absolute reflections of one another that the same thoughts arise in both at once. ## Telepathy as identification, not transmission The first and most important correction Bashar makes is mechanical. The old definition — "reading each other's mind" — is not how it works. The model is mirroring: when you identify with someone or something, your prism of belief, emotion, and thought translates the one homogeneous energy "into the same type of thought patterns as the other identity you are mirroring," so the two of you have the same type of thought at the same time. It is a shared generation, not a transmission from one head into another. A direct consequence is that the easiest way to generate conscious telepathy is to identify as strongly as you can with everyone in your reality — and the way you do that is through unconditional love. "Love is the prime vibration, the prime chord of harmonic in your reality. That's why individuals in your society that you recognize as being in love very often are the individuals that very obviously know what each other is thinking at any given moment." Bashar gives the same definition when an audience member asks how to connect many languages across continents. "When you are in the same vibrational state as someone else, you're not reading their mind. You're not communicating from mind to mind. You're having the same thoughts at the same time. That's what telepathy is… So if you want a true universe language, be in love with humanity. Mirror them. Mimic the vibration. And you will have the same thoughts at the same time." The universal language of telepathy is therefore predicated on being on the same wavelength, which means being in unconditional love. ## The four conditions psychic functioning requires Because everything is one thing and you are connected to all of it through identification, psychic functioning can manifest — but only when certain conditions are met. Bashar names four laws, each of which explains a familiar failure mode: It takes the path of least resistance, like electricity. If someone challenges you to "tell me what I had for breakfast," the questioner already knows the answer, and so the information is already present in the collective event. Why should it travel to another person when one of the two parties already has it? This short-circuits the ability of the other to know. There must be a genuine need or desire to know. If the receiver does not care what you had for breakfast, they will not generate an identical enough wavelength of interest with you to receive it. Need and desire activate the emotional engine that powers the identification. Allowance, spontaneity, and confidence are required. The laboratory for these phenomena is spontaneous life itself, not the controlled laboratory, because the experience is empathic. Wiring someone up in an unfamiliar room and commanding them to "fall in love on the count of three" is the right analogy for why laboratory tests of psychic ability so often fail. Bias and skepticism short-circuit the spontaneous interaction. Each being translates through its own definitions. Even when the first three conditions are met, the receiver filters the information through their own set of definitions, so the meaning transmits accurately even when the symbol differs. The sender holding the ace of spades may transmit "winning card"; the receiver, for whom the winning card was the queen of hearts, reports "queen of hearts" and is scored wrong — but they received the correct meaning accurately. ## Skepticism as bias, not science Bashar is pointed about the testing paradigm. "Skepticism is not a scientific point of view. Open-mindedness is." Skepticism, in your society, has come to mean a preconceived bias in a particular direction that demands something else disprove it, rather than open-mindedly asking whether something in here works. "A skeptic will always be able to say, 'I told you so,' because that's what they believe going in." Your perspective determines the result you design the experiment to find; consciousness itself must therefore become part of any scientific equation that hopes to investigate these phenomena. ## Telepathy and channeling The same mechanism underlies channeling. Bashar experiences his interaction with the physical channel as "a very intense daydream" — a real, co-created experience in which the interaction itself creates both parties. The channel allows his brain-wave frequency and Bashar's to meet and synchronize in the middle; what the audience receives is "a biological translator translating his thoughts into our language." Channeling, on this view, is a specialized form of telepathic identification — one in which the channel mirrors Bashar's frequency so completely that Bashar's thoughts arise in the channel's body and are spoken in the channel's language. The same law of identification is at work: to know someone is to love them, and to love them is to know them. ## Dolphin communication as the model Bashar names dolphin communication as a living example of empathic telepathy. The approach is not linguistic articulation but "emotion, feeling, sharing, touching, physical presence with the dolphin." Dolphins do use an acoustic language — their sonic vibrations represent specific packages of thought — and you identify what the sounds represent by spending time with them, exchanging concepts around simple objects you can both identify, until you differentiate what they mean from what you mean. But the deeper instruction is to "relate to the dolphin as another expression of you, of the synchronicity you are both representative of. Become the synchronicity of your relationship, the interaction itself, and you will always understand what that relationship is." Telepathy is an empathic, emotional phenomenon, and "it is also synchronicity." ## Practical implications Cultivate identification rather than technique. Telepathy is not a mental trick you perform; it is the natural result of mirroring another's frequency so completely that you generate the same thoughts at the same time. The work is unconditional-love work — identification — not concentration technique. Do not test it on trivia someone already knows. If one of the two parties already has the information, the path of least resistance delivers it there, and the channel to the other closes. Genuine psychic functioning appears where there is real need and real not-knowing. Look for it in spontaneous life, not in forced laboratory conditions. The conditions for empathic phenomena are confidence, allowance, and spontaneity; unfamiliar, hostile, or skeptical environments short-circuit the very sensitivity being tested. Translate the meaning, not the symbol. When you receive, understand that you are filtering through your own definitions. The meaning may be perfectly accurate even when the literal symbol you receive differs from the sender's — look for the underlying meaning rather than scoring the literal form. Treat telepathic impressions as attributed material, never as proof or a substitute for consent. Telepathy in Bashar's model gives you a felt sense of another's state, not privileged access to their private content.
