# The Now

There is only one moment in creation. Bashar frames what you call different moments as the same moment seen from different points of view, which makes now the only place from which you can receive the reflections, gifts, and ideas you say you prefer. Living outside the now is therefore not a neutral habit; it leaves you unavailable to the very opportunities you ask for.

## The journey is to become fully here

In All Aboard The Train, a participant describes a visualization in which the destination islands dissolved and "now" became the ideal scenario. Bashar's response is direct: that is the whole point. All the bridges are within, all the islands are within, and everything is here and now. The traveling, so to speak, takes place within you — you really go nowhere — but to become fully here is the journey, to become fully in the now you are in. You are connected to it all; you are the center of the holotope.

## Spontaneity and the experience of time

Bashar treats spontaneity as something you cannot try to produce — by definition you cannot try to be spontaneous. It comes as a natural result of doing the thing you are most excited about doing. Living that much in the moment is why every exchange is simply new, for the first time. The teaching carries a paradox about time itself: when you allow whatever time you create for yourself to be experienced in full joy, you actually experience less time, because living in the moment means you are not always waiting for something else — you create less time when you are not waiting.

## Be yourself fully now

The same insistence on the present appears when Bashar is asked how to prepare for contact: be yourself in the here and now as best as you possibly can, by acting on your highest excitement every moment that you can, taking it as far as you can until you can take it no further, and then acting on the next most exciting thing with absolutely zero expectation as to where it is supposed to lead. The future-self version of the same instruction is even shorter: be the future self, and you will have the life of the future self.

## Practical implications

Treat the now as the only address where preferred reflections arrive. If you are not present, you are not available to receive what you say you prefer.

Stop waiting for the destination. The bridges and the islands are within; the journey is to become fully present in the now you are already in.

Let spontaneity arrive as a by-product of acting on excitement rather than as a goal. You cannot try to be spontaneous; you can only live that much in the moment.

Notice the link between presence and the experience of time. Living fully in the moment — not waiting for the next thing — is said to create less time.

Prepare for anything you desire, including contact, by being yourself fully now: act on your highest excitement with zero expectation as to where it is supposed to lead.

## Representative passages

There is only now. Any time you look, it will never be then, it will only be now. And therefore, if you are not living in the now, you are not, shall we say, present enough to receive the reflections, the gifts, the ideas that you say you prefer in your reality.— Bashar, Changing Your Life (changing-your-life#qa-1)

Congratulations. That's the whole point — to recognize that all the bridges are within, all the islands are within, and everything is here and now. [...] You really go nowhere, but to become fully here — that's the journey, to become fully in the now you're in.— Bashar, All Aboard The Train [2012] (all-aboard-the-train-2012#qa-3)

You cannot try to be spontaneous, by definition. [...] when you live in the moment, you don't create as much time. Because you're not always waiting for something else.— Bashar, Christmas Bells (christmas-bells#qa-8)
