# Time

Time, in Bashar's teaching, is not a real background against which events unfold. It is the side effect of your consciousness shifting through static, already-existing parallel reality frames billions of times per second.

There is only one moment in creation; what you call different moments is the same moment seen from different points of view.

Each parallel reality frame is a timeless, frozen snapshot, and the apparent continuity of your life is an experience your consciousness creates by rapidly sequencing them — just as a film projector creates the illusion of motion from a strip of still pictures.

## The film-strip mechanism

Bashar's central analogy is the film strip and the projector. Each frame on a strip exists completely independently of the others; the projectionist can stretch out the film and see dozens of frames at once, all existing at the same time.

The illusion of one frame coming after another appears only when the strip flows through the projector. Physical reality, Bashar says, is structured the same way: your consciousness is the projector light, and you skip and shift through independent parallel-reality frames "literally billions of times per second."

The side effect of that shifting — the experience and illusion of change, movement, and time — is what you call time.

A direct consequence is that you are never the same person from one moment to the next. You cannot step into the same river twice.

"You are literally becoming a new person every single moment that you change — literally, not metaphorically, literally."

The continuity of "you" is something you create by sequencing frames that each, on their own, are static and complete.

## The present creates the past

Because all the frames exist at once, the apparent arrow from past to present to future is not mechanical. "The past does not create the present. The present creates the past."

When you shift billions of times per second, you become a new person each moment, and that new person literally has a new past, a new future, a new history.

Take this to its logical conclusion and it is not just that you are no longer affected by things in your past — "it's that you never had those experiences."

How you define yourself in the present determines, literally, how your so-called past affects you or doesn't.

The television analogy carries the same point: when you change the channel from 2 to 4, the program on Channel 2 does not cease to exist — both are being broadcast simultaneously, and you perceive only the one your channel is tuned to.

Past, present, and future coexist holographically at once, separated only by the frequency you are tuned to.

## Time travel and the grandfather paradox

Bashar's model dissolves the classic paradoxes of time travel. When you step into a so-called time machine and "go to the past," you are not actually stepping into your own past. You are slipping to another parallel reality, simultaneously coexistent with your own, that simply happens to be at a place in its history that appears to be your past.

It seems similar enough that you think it is the same one — but it is not, and you were never in it.

So there can be no such thing as the grandfather paradox. If you go back and kill your grandfather, you are going into a parallel reality and killing the grandfather of another version of you; you will not cease to exist, you will only prevent that version of you in that parallel time stream from ever being born.

Bashar's photo analogy: a family photo taken without you in it will never contain you, no matter what — and a photo of the same scene with you in it is simply a different, simultaneously-existing frame.

This is also why "predictions," in Bashar's vocabulary, are not predictions of a fixed future. They are sensings of the energy that, at the moment the prediction is made, has the greatest momentum toward manifesting — and the prediction itself can change the energy.

All probable futures exist right now; the only question is which one you will choose to experience.

## Karma as a present-life blueprint

The same model recasts what your society calls karma and reincarnation. Karma is completely self-imposed, and the concept of reincarnation is an illusion — it is really simultaneous incarnations in parallel realities.

What you experience as karmic connection or energy balancing is a present-life decision to create energetic cross-links to other simultaneously existing parallel lives, because cross-connecting to them and downloading information from them serves the theme you chose to explore in this life.

Those other lives are simultaneously cross-connecting to you for the same reason. Karma, then, is "your decision to create a blueprint of connection to other life experiences going on at the same time," not a literal debt inherited from a linear past.

## Practical implications

Treat each now as genuinely new. You are literally a different person from one moment to the next; the continuity of your life is something you are creating frame by frame. Holding onto a fixed identity or a fixed past is a definition you are imposing on a stream that is, by structure, always new.

Define the present and you redefine the past. Because the present creates the past, how you define yourself now literally determines how your so-called past affects you. A definition change in the now is a past change in your experience.

Do not chase predictions as fixed futures. A prediction is a snapshot of present energy with momentum behind it; it can be changed by the very act of predicting it. Use it as information about present direction, not as a destiny to await.

Recognize that you are always already time-traveling. Shifting through parallel-reality frames is what you are doing every moment; "time travel" of the science-fiction kind only refines a process that is already continuous.

Use childhood memory discrepancies as markers. Apparent shifts in detail from your past (such as the "Berenstein/Berenstain Bears" shift) can serve as conscious markers that you are moving between parallel Earths and shifting more consciously than you realized.

## Representative passages

Understand the idea of the different frames on a film strip. One frame exists completely independently of another… your consciousness skips and shifts through those independent parallel reality frames literally billions of times per second. By shifting from one frame to another, one parallel reality to another, billions of times per second, you create the effect, the side effect, the experience and illusion of change, movement, time. Because each frame, just like on the film strip, each parallel reality, just like a frame, has no time, no movement, timeless, frozen snapshot.— Bashar, What Time Really Is (what-time-really-is#qa-1)

You are always shifting. In fact, you're shifting billions of times per second from parallel reality to parallel reality to parallel reality… In fact, that's what time is. Time is the side effect of the shifting of your consciousness from parallel reality to parallel reality billions of times per second… Therefore, you must understand then that you never actually are the same from moment to moment, literally.— Bashar, Time Is The Side effect Of Shifting From Parallel Realities (time-is-the-side-effect-of-shifting-from-parallel-realities#qa-1)

The past does not create the present. The present creates the past… when you change, as we said, your shift billions of times per second, you are literally becoming a new person every single moment that you change. Literally, not metaphorically, literally… it's not just about the idea that you no longer are affected by things in the past. It's that you never had those experiences.— Bashar, All Things Exist Now The Present Creates The Past (all-things-exist-now-the-present-creates-the-past#qa-1)

Karma is completely self-imposed… karma and the concept of reincarnation is again an illusion. It is simultaneous incarnations in parallel realities… karma is your decision to create a blueprint of connection to other life experiences going on at the same time that you believe are designed to serve the theme of the challenges you wish to explore in this life.— Bashar, All Things Exist Now The Present Creates The Past (all-things-exist-now-the-present-creates-the-past#qa-2)
